Job description

Waste Pro is Now Hiring a Corporate Safety Specialist in Longwood, Florida!

The Corporate Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring adherence to Waste Pro policies and federal/state work guidelines to improve safety across the company. Compiles and reports on trends and violations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Promotes a strong culture of safety and adherence to policies and procedures company wide.
  • Tracks division and regional safety data and performance by monitoring DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company data. Compiles and analyzes internal and external information, identifies trends and reports findings to Director and VP of Safety.
  • Monitors state and federal regulatory websites and updates information as required. This includes FMCSA, OSHA, and state environmental agencies.
  • Monitors performance and provides administrative support to regional and division management teams to help them achieve and maintain compliance by improving systems and procedures.
  • Submits and monitors FMCSA Disputes and Citations. Compiles documents and submits Data Q's weekly. Partners with divisions to respond to CSA Roadside citations and files challenges with the DOT timely.
  • Completes regulatory reporting including OSHA 300 / 301 logs, and the annual milage, driver and vehicle count required by the DOT.
  • Manages access of internal and vendor safety systems.
  • Manages truck camera event disputes submitted by divisions. Partners with region and division management to resolve erroneous AI identified unsafe driving events.
  • Manages safety information in the Contract Works system. Works with region safety managers to obtain and electronically file Vendor Contracts and Insurance Certificates. Sets expirations dates for all documents in the systems and sets up expiring documents email alerts to the appropriate recipients.
  • Takes ownership of compliance and explores opportunities for improvement. Communicates compliance issues and recommended solutions to the VP and Director of Safety.
  • Provides Support to Corporate Safety Director and VP of Safety as needed.
OTHER JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Employees in this job classification must attend and participate in corporation sponsored training courses as assigned.
  • Employees in this job classification are responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Waste Pro USA.
  • Any additional job duties that may be assigned by the Safety Director.
Education and Experience
  • 5 years' experience in DOT and OSHA compliance.
  • Experience in solid waste industry compliance is preferred.
  • Experience in keeping detailed and accurate records. Ability to analyze incidents and data to assess and interpret risk.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting federal, state and local regulations
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires strong written and verbal communication skills for guiding field, attention to detail and strong documentation for reporting.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage projects and meet deadlines.

  • Can read and interpret variety of simple to complex reports (e.g. Vehicle Condition Reports) for clarification of problems and implementation of preventive mitigation techniques.
