Job summary

Genpak LLC in Charlotte, North Carolina, is seeking a part-time Corporate Quality Technician. You will perform routine quality testing on plastic packaging products, conduct inspections, collect and analyze data, and support calibration of testing equipment.

The role emphasizes adherence to GMP, SQF/FDA requirements, and cross-functional teamwork with Production, Engineering, and R&D to drive quality improvements.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in QA/Manufacturing/Engineering or related field required; ASQ certification is a plus.
  • 1+ year quality control experience in a manufacturing setting required.
  • Proficiency with measurement tools and MS Office; familiarity with quality management software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Follow plant policies, GMPs, and safety rules.
  • Perform quality testing on plastic packaging products.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of materials, in-process, and finished goods.
  • Record data, analyze findings, and report to QA Manager.
  • Assist in testing new designs, materials, and projects.
  • Identify root causes and support corrective actions.
  • Maintain inspections records and prepare quality reports.

Job Description

Purpose: To outline the job functions and duties of a Corporate Quality Technician as it applies to Genpak LLC in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Scope: This applies to the job functions of the Corporate Quality Technician. This job description includes but may not be limited to the following functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Follow all plant policies and procedures including Good Manufacturing Practices and safety rules and precautions.
  • Perform routine and non-routine quality testing on plastic packaging products to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer specifications
  • Possess a well-rounded knowledge of quality of all Genpak products.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process products, and finished goods. Record findings and take appropriate action to resolve discrepancies.
  • Collect, record, and analyze data from quality tests, inspections, and production processes. Report findings to the Quality Manager and assist in trend analysis and corrective actions.
  • Assist in testing and validating new product designs, packaging materials, and corporate projects, ensuring all relevant specifications are met.
  • Identify and investigate quality issues, working with production and engineering teams to resolve root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and corrective actions. Prepare quality reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with the Quality Department and cross-functional teams (including Production, Engineering, and R&D) to support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., SQF, FDA, etc.).
  • Assist with the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment to ensure proper functioning and accuracy.
  • Thoroughly and accurately complete all required paperwork and documentation.
  • Housekeeping – keep work area clean and organized, complete the Lab Housekeeping worksheet each shift.

Primary Interactions

The Corporate Quality Technician will have daily interaction with all plant and corporate personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills required to report findings and collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Perform job duties safely and possess a good knowledge of safety precautions.
  • Knowledge of quality control methodologies and tools (e.g., SPC, MSA, FMEA).
  • Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.) and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to spot defects or inconsistencies in products and processes and take corrective actions.
  • Ability to analyze complex quality issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and experience with quality management software.
  • Strong understanding of quality control tools and techniques (e.g., FMEA, control charts, root cause analysis).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address quality issues through data-driven insights and actions.
Requirements

Education and Experience

Associate’s degree in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing, Engineering, Food Science or related field required. Relevant certifications (e.g., ASQ) are a plus. A minimum of one (1) year quality control experience in a manufacturing setting required. Prospective employees must have good math, reading, and writing skills.
