Base pay range

$134,000.00/yr - $190,000.00/yr

Role Overview

What the Principal Project Engineer at IP Corporation is: This position supports the company's efforts in building a strong project execution foundation, ensuring industry best practices and engineering standards are upheld.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering; advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience supporting manufacturing/distribution facilities with hands-on engineering
  • Ability to perform process engineering calculations in thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, etc.
  • Experience leading OSHA Process Safety Management efforts related to capital projects
  • Ability to develop and track project plans, schedule projects, and manage contracts (MS Project preferred)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD for P&ID development and documentation
  • Ability to lead remote project teams
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% and adjust work hours as needed
  • Hybrid work schedule: onsite at Minnesota office at least 3 days/week, up to 2 days remote
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards and Processes – 20%
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards across manufacturing facilities
  • Monitor compliance with codes and standards
  • Perform project audits and recommend improvements
  • Develop tools for project cost estimation
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and manage third-party engineering activities
Capital Project Management – 60%
  • Manage project deliverables, schedule, and budget
  • Estimate project costs and prepare funding documentation
  • Develop project scopes and designs, and coordinate with off-site resources
  • Manage third-party contractors and ensure PSM compliance
  • Support construction, commissioning, and startup activities
  • Mentor engineers and lead project process improvements
Reliability – 10%
  • Develop and improve reliability standards and processes
  • Manage asset management systems and preventive maintenance standards
  • Establish processes for critical spare parts
Process Safety Management – 10%
  • Support and improve PSM standards, including audits and hazard analyses
  • Lead HAZOPs and safety training
