Paralegal
We are looking to add a Paralegal to our team to assist with conducting research, legal projects, and clerical support, on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters, working closely with the Corporate Counsel and compliance department, and learning about daily affairs in a corporate legal environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support business initiatives and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, as well as to support projects as requested by the in-house attorney;
- Assist in initial review of a variety of commercial agreements, including technology, supply, licensing, and vendor contracts under the supervision of legal counsel;
- Organize and maintain contract database;
- Review of a variety of intellectual property matters, including marketing materials, copyright and trademark infringement and enforcement, and patent research on new products;
- Assist and support the interactions with outside counsel as needed;
- Participate in process improvements for legal operations, including the development of templates and internal resources to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico;
- Assist with review, research, and responses to sales and marketing inquiries;
- Work collaboratively with other departments;
- Stay informed on legal trends and regulatory developments relevant to the company’s business;
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree. Paralegal certificate preferred.
- At least 3+ years prior relevant experience in either a law firm or corporate legal department with a working knowledge in one or more areas of expertise: commercial agreements, patents, trademarks, product compliance, labor & employment.
- Proficient in complex contract review
- Excellent research, communications, and writing skills including proficient proofreading and editing ability
- Strong critical thinking skills with adeptness at identifying and articulating potential legal issues and risks as well as recommending appropriate courses of action, escalating issues to in-house attorney
- Organized and detail-oriented with ability to prioritize and perform well under pressure of deadlines and multiple projects
- Collaborates effectively with Legal team members as well as throughout the company
- Performs and leads/co-leads complex activities with moderate supervision
- Working knowledge of industry and company acumen
- Ability to help establish and enforce department and company procedures as they relate to legal projects and assignments
- Highly motivated, involved professional who is eager to learn and able to work independently with a strong sense of urgency under moderate supervision
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings
