Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Develop material sources and forecast future needs; direct procurement and inventory.
  • Supervise purchasing, inventory, receiving, production planners and warehouse teams.
  • Develop and execute strategies for materials planning, inventory control, and purchasing.
  • Monitor raw materials, components, and finished goods inventories to meet production schedules.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers; negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
  • Analyze and forecast material requirements using MRP systems and historical data.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards in materials handling.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and logistics to resolve supply chain issues.
  • Track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, on-time delivery, and cost savings.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to material transactions and supplier performance.

The Position:

The Corporate Materials Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, storage, control, and distribution of materials and products according to company needs and customer requirements. This role ensures material availability, minimizes excess inventory, and supports efficient production and delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Develop material sources and oversees forecasting of future material needs. Directs the acquisition of materials and oversees materials inventory.
  • Supervise purchasing, inventory, receiving, production planners and warehouse teams.
  • Develop and execute strategies for materials planning, inventory control, and purchasing.
  • Monitor and manage raw materials, components, and finished goods inventory to meet production schedules.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers; negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms.
  • Analyze and forecast material requirements using MRP systems and historical data.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and company standards in all materials handling activities.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and logistics to resolve material or supply chain issues.
  • May track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as inventory accuracy, on‑time delivery, and cost savings.
  • Conduct regular audits of inventory processes and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to material transactions and supplier performance.
Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in materials or inventory management, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems and inventory software
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
