  • Must be able to handle multiple priorities at one time, work well with others and have excellent communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and PDF software.
  • Experience with InTapp Time, Intapp Open, Chrome River Expense Reporting, Aderant, Interaction, iManage are pluses.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file corporate documents and contracts, including closing documents and UCCs.
  • Assist with board minutes, corporate formations and dissolution documents.
  • Enter and track attorney time and review billings for accuracy.
  • Perform conflict checks and open/close client matters; draft engagement letters.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and manage schedules for timekeepers.
  • Provide high level client service and maintain organized files per firm procedures.

Benesch is proud to announce the opening for a Corporate Legal Assistant within our Practice Support department in our Cleveland office.

Position Summary:

The Corporate Legal Assistant handles complex and specialized administrative and clerical support activities related to the specific work and function of the timekeeper(s) to whom they are assigned.

Essential Functions:
  1. Prepare, revise, redline and proofread various corporate documents including contracts, agreements, transactional matters, compliance, closing documents, UCCs, financing and lending, audit letters, etc.
  2. Assist with assembly of pre-closing documents and sets of executed documents for various signatures, corporate formation and dissolution documents and UCC financing statements and amendments.
  3. Prepare shareholder and corporate minutes and maintain corporate record books for various entities.
  4. Working knowledge of filing procedures, requirements and e-filing with Secretary of State office, in additional to federal, state and local courts.
  5. Create and maintain client and administrative files in accordance with firm procedures, including within the document management system.
  6. Proactive utilization of workflow management system to manage assignments from timekeepers, maintain an organized workload, and assist others during PTO or peak periods.
  7. Schedule appointments including meeting invites, video conference details, conference room requests, meal requests etc. and maintains attorney's calendar.
  8. Enter and release attorney's billable time in accordance with firm guidelines. Review proformas for billings received from the Accounting Department to clients for services rendered.
  9. Perform initial conflict checks and open/close client matters and prepare engagement letters.
  10. Monitor case deadlines and work with Docket Department to ensure deadlines are entered and met.
  11. Coordinate travel arrangements and track travel expenses for timely reimbursement.
  12. Communicate professionally and promptly with internal and external clients to deliver a high level of customer service, consistent with the Firm's "First in Service" philosophy.
Additional Responsibilities:
  1. Proactively participates as a member of the practice group support coverage team.
  2. Stay current in the use of all firm systems and practices.
  3. May require overtime or weekend hours.
  4. Perform additional office support duties as assigned/requested.

Qualifications:

Legal Assistants must have a High School Diploma in addition to three years of corporate experience. Must be able to handle multiple priorities at one time, work well with others and have excellent communication skills. Comprehensive knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word) and PDF software. Experience with InTapp Time, Intapp Open, Chrome River Expense Reporting, Aderant, Interaction, iManage are pluses. Must possess an excellent customer service attitude.

The salary range for this position is $85K to $110K.

Please note that quoted salary ranges are based on Benesch's good faith belief at the time of the job posting and are not a guarantee of what final salary offers may be. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that Benesch provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full-time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
