Role Description

The Corporate Lawyer will serve as in-house counsel, providing legal guidance to support First American Harvest's nonprofit operations and initiatives. This full-time, on-site role in the Greater Phoenix Area involves reviewing and drafting contracts, agreements, and organizational policies to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Corporate Lawyer will advise leadership on governance, risk management, and regulatory matters related to nonprofit status, fundraising, partnerships, and program delivery. Daily responsibilities include conducting legal research, managing relationships with external counsel when needed, and assisting with dispute resolution and claims. The role also supports board and executive decision-making through clear, practical legal analysis, helping the organization maintain ethical and compliant practices.

Qualifications

• Relevant legal expertise in corporate, nonprofit, or business law, including contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, governance, risk management, and policies for nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
• Strong legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear guidance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare precise legal documents and advise diverse stakeholders.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar admission in Arizona (or ability to obtain in a reasonable timeframe).
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on-site with cross-functional teams and manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• High ethical standards, sound judgment, and commitment to the mission of serving communities in need; prior nonprofit or public interest experience is a plus.
