HII Corporate HR invites you to join a 2027 Summer Internship at the Newport News, VA headquarters for a minimum 10-week program. You’ll explore areas such as compensation, benefits, learning development, and talent acquisition while rotating across HR roles to gain robust experience in human resources.

We seek students with a 3.0+ GPA, enrolled in a relevant degree program, and able to work 40 hours per week during the summer.

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Enrolled in a relevant degreed program to support business requirements.
• Currently attending a 4-year college or university (or 2+2 program) and will be a rising Junior or above.
• Available to work a 40-hour work week for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer.

The Role

HII - America’s largest shipbuilder and a global, all-domain defense provider- has an exciting opportunity for a 2027 Human Resources summer intern at our Corporate Headquarters in Newport News, Virginia! With a 140 year history of advancing U.S. national defense, this minimum 10 week Corporate summer internship opportunity will allow students to gain experience in areas such as business, finance, information technology, and legal and government affairs, as well as being able to support the leaders who are driving the future of HII!

As An HII Corporate HR Summer Intern You Will

• Support various departments within the HR organization in day to day administrative tasks, projects, and activities
• Will alternate/rotate between various functional areas within the HR Corp Team to include: Compensation, Benefits, EEO, Security, Learning Development, and Talent Acquisition to gain a robust understanding of Human Resources

Must Have

• Be enrolled in a relevant degreed program that supports the company’s business requirements which are typically in the following areas:
