Qualifications

Corporate Graphic Designer

Reports to: Juliette Bellocq - handbuilt

Position Summary

The Corporate Graphic Designer creates visual communications, digital content, motion graphics, and environmental design assets across NAC's marketing, business development, recruiting, and corporate communication initiatives. The role translates architectural ideas, research, and business content into clear, engaging work that supports the NAC brand and firm growth objectives.

Working under handbuilt's graphic supervision and in close collaboration with NAC Marketing, graphic designers, architects, and project teams, this position contributes to projects from concept development through final production. The role is responsible for strong craft, reliable execution, thoughtful collaboration, and efficient iteration based on feedback.

Core Responsibilities
Collaborating
  • Collaborates closely with graphic designers, architects, and project teams to enrich architectural concepts and spatial experiences for users, promote NAC projects, and contribute meaningfully to the development of the office.
  • Receives feedback constructively and efficiently iterates design work.
  • Reports progress throughout all phases of a project and raises questions, risks, or timing concerns early.
  • Works with marketing and project teams to translate communication goals into clear visual solutions.
  • Maintains organized working files and supports smooth handoffs, reviews, and final delivery.
  • Digital Asset coordination (Photo/Video).
Creating Sophisticated Motion, Graphic, and Environmental Designs
  • Translates architectural ideas and research into storytelling assets for presentations, marketing materials, award submittals, and community outreach.
  • Creates sophisticated typographic systems across print, digital, and environmental applications.
  • Plans, designs, and refines motion graphics and animated content for presentations, marketing materials, award submittals, community outreach, project promotion, social media, web-based environments, and exhibitions.
  • Develops graphic and environmental design concepts that align with established brand standards and the needs of each audience and application.
  • Produces polished layouts, visual narratives, infographics, illustrations, and image treatments that make complex information easier to understand.
Campaign Creative & Multi-Channel Asset Development
  • Designs and produces assets for integrated marketing campaigns across web, email, social media, digital advertising, events, and business development initiatives.
  • Creates landing page graphics, social media content, email visuals, web banners, campaign toolkits, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborates with Studio II on campaign execution across multiple channels.
Applies NAC's positioning, messaging, and brand standards consistently across creative assets.
  • Visual Systems & Brand Application
  • Applies and maintains NAC's visual identity standards across digital, print, presentation, and environmental communications.
  • Builds and updates templates, style resources, illustration libraries, icon sets, and branded visual assets with direction from handbuilt.
  • Checks work for consistency, accuracy, production quality, and alignment with approved standards.
  • Supports design reviews by preparing options, mockups, and refinements for feedback.
  • Contributes ideas that strengthen the quality and usefulness of the firm’s visual systems.
Interactive Content & Motion Design
  • Creates motion graphics and animated assets for presentations, social campaigns, websites, exhibitions, recruiting, and project promotion.
  • Develops storyboards, visual concepts, animation studies, and content sequences with creative direction and feedback.
  • Designs visual explainers, infographics, illustrations, and interactive content that make architectural and business concepts accessible.
Supports video and animation production through hands-on design, editing, and file preparation.
  • Corporate Communications, Publications & Guides
  • Designs and produces presentations, corporate reports, strategic plans, proposals, interview materials, and client-facing communications.
  • Designs and formats guidebooks, playbooks, training materials, onboarding resources, publications, white papers, research reports, and thought leadership content.
  • Creates long-form deliverables that are visually engaging, easy to navigate, professionally formatted, and aligned with NAC brand standards.
  • Supports firm leadership and project teams with high-quality communication materials for clients, conferences, recruiting, and internal initiatives.
Photography, Video & Multimedia Production
  • Edits, enhances, retouches, and optimizes photography for marketing and business development efforts.
  • Produces and edits video content for websites, social media, recruiting, presentations, events, and internal communications.
  • Sources, organizes, and maintains photography, video, and multimedia assets.
  • Adapts visual content for multiple formats and platforms while maintaining brand consistency and technical quality.
Supports event coverage, interviews, project documentation, and thought leadership media production.
  • Managing Workflow
  • For each project, develops distinct visual concepts and communicates their intent, value, and strategic alignment to the team through mockups, pitch materials, and presentation decks.
  • Analyzes project scopes and translates them into manageable steps.
  • Works across multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high design quality.
  • Organizes source files, production files, templates, and final assets so work can be reviewed, shared, and reused efficiently.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Motion Design, Environmental Graphic Design, or a related field preferred. Equivalent directly relevant experience and a strong portfolio will be considered.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in graphic design, visual communications, motion design, environmental graphic design, or a related field.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated typography, layout, visual storytelling, motion graphics, and design across print and digital applications.
  • Ability to translate architectural ideas, research, and complex information into clear and engaging visual communications.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft and Adobe suites, especially InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.
  • Strong proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications used to create and refine presentations and corporate communications.
  • Working knowledge of Figma, Canva, Premiere Pro, or comparable design and production tools is beneficial.
  • Experience planning, designing, and refining motion graphics and animated content.
  • Ability to create typographic systems, layouts, infographics, illustrations, iconography, and environmental graphic applications.
  • Experience producing presentations, publications, proposals, award submittals, marketing materials, and other long-form communications.
  • Strong image editing, retouching, file preparation, and multimedia production capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, organize work into clear steps, meet deadlines, and maintain design quality.
  • Clear communication, collaboration, progress reporting, and responsiveness to feedback.
  • Experience in architecture, AEC, professional services, or a design studio environment is preferred.
