Job summary

Upgrade, Inc. is seeking a Corporate FP&A Manager in San Francisco to lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning. You will develop advanced financial models to support strategic initiatives and work with business leads to drive growth.

You will present insights to senior management, partner with marketing, operations, product and engineering, and implement FP&A automation including Pigment budgeting. A strong fintech/financial services background is highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA/CPA/CFA preferred.
  • 5+ years in FP&A roles, preferably fintech/financial services.
  • Expert in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with Aleph; AI in forecasting/reporting helpful; Netsuite preferred.
  • Experience with SQL and BI tools (Tableau) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range planning.
  • Build and maintain P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow models for scenario planning.
  • Coordinate FP&A processes, forecasting calendar, and variance commentary.
  • Analyze actual vs budget variances, identifying drivers, risks, and opportunities.
  • Partner with department heads to align financial needs with company goals.
  • Prepare and present finance reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Drive process improvements and automation within FP&A; implement Pigment budgeting.
  • Support senior leadership with actionable insights and strategic guidance.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Corporate FP&A Manager to join our FP&A team. This position reports into the Head of FP&A, and is based in our San Francisco office in a hybrid capacity (specifically on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).

What You'll Do:
  • Lead and manage the company's comprehensive financial planning cycles, including annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and long-range strategic planning.
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to support scenario planning, strategic initiatives, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead and orchestrate the F P&A process, coordinating the forecasting calendar, consolidating diverse financial inputs, and collaborating closely with business unit finance leads to develop insightful variance commentary, and with accounting to understand historical performance.
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis of actual versus budget/forecast variances, identifying key drivers, risks, and opportunities, and presenting actionable insights to management.
  • Partner with department heads across the organization (Marketing, Operations, G&A, Product & Engineering) to understand their financial needs, provide financial guidance, and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
  • Prepare and present clear, concise, and impactful financial reports and presentations for senior management, the executive team, and other stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within FP&A to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Manage the implementation of Pigment for automating and budgeting.
What We Look For:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA, CFA, or other relevant designation is preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) roles, preferably within a fast-paced fintech or financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel, experience in a financial planning tool (ideally Aleph), and experience using AI in financial forecasting or reporting is required. Netsuite experience is preferred
  • Experience with SQL as well as business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau) is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to distill complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey financial information to both finance and non-finance audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and build strong working relationships in an FP&A capacity.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience with consumer lending or credit products is a significant advantage.

The compensation range of this position in San Francisco, CA is USD $120,000 - $140,000 annually plus equity and benefits. Within this range, an individual's base pay will be dependent on a variety of factors, including without limitation, job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
