Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a seasoned Finance & Strategy professional to lead financial due diligence for M&A and strategic transactions in San Francisco. You’ll build deal models, forecast targets, and translate findings into Anthropic’s forecast and plan.

You’ll partner with Corporate Development, Accounting, R&D, and People to drive cross-functional deal decisioning, leveraging Claude as a core toolkit for rigor and speed. This role offers hybrid work in SF.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in M&A-related roles across investment banking, private equity, growth equity, venture capital, corporate development, or strategic finance.
• Hands-on experience building acquisition models and pro forma forecasts from scratch, with mastery of how a transaction flows through the three financial statements.
• Strong collaborator who builds trust quickly across large, cross-functional deal teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead Finance & Strategy's financial due diligence on M&A and other strategic transactions: assess the target's historical performance and forecast, pressure-test the assumptions behind the deal, and surface the risks that matter for the decision.
• Build the deal model and pro forma forecast for each transaction, and evaluate deal economics and structuring options.
• Partner with Corporate Development on the deal case, Accounting on diligence findings and post-close integration, and the sponsoring business team on operating assumptions, carrying what you learn into the model.
• Translate each deal's impact into Anthropic's forecast and plan, and present your analysis and recommendations to Finance leadership.
• Build the templates, playbooks, and processes that make deal work repeatable, and use Claude to raise the rigor and pace of that work over time.

About The Role

Our Corporate Finance & Strategy team serves as a strategic partner to Anthropic's leadership, driving data-informed decisions that shape our company's future. We are seeking a professional to support Anthropic's M&A and strategic transaction activity. In this role, you will lead the financial due diligence of acquisition targets and own the Finance & Strategy view of each deal: forecasting the target's business, testing the assumptions behind the deal, and translating its impact into Anthropic's forecast and plan.

You’ll partner with a broad group of cross-functional stakeholders throughout the deal process, including Corporate Development, Accounting, R&D, People, and more. The role suits someone who has seen transactions from more than one viewpoint, whether as an investor, a banker, or an operator. You’ll give leadership a clear view of what each deal means for Anthropic's financials, and build the models, frameworks, and playbooks that keep this work consistent from one transaction to the next, leveraging Claude as a core part of your toolkit.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA, CFA, or CPA
• Experience on both the investing / advisory and operating sides of transactions
• M&A experience at a public company, with an understanding of downstream reporting impacts
• Experience using Claude or similar AI tools to raise both the quality and the efficiency of your work

The annual compensation range for this role is listed below.

For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role.

Annual Salary

$190,000—$240,000 USD

Logistics

Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience

Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.
