Job summary

Finom is seeking a senior corporate finance professional to lead regulatory-focused financial modelling and capital planning across its European operations. You will partner with the CFO, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure accurate projections and licensing readiness.

This role requires deep fintech economics knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines while working across Europe in a hybrid/remote setup.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years in corporate finance, strategic finance, financial modelling, transaction services, or the finance function of a bank or fintech.
  • You have built or materially maintained sophisticated financial models for a bank, fintech or financial institution.
  • Exposure to regulatory financial models: licence applications, capital planning, ICAAP/ILAAP, or regulatory reporting.
  • Exceptional Excel / Google Sheets modelling—structure, transparency, error-proofing; you build models others can pick up.
  • Excellent working command of the three financial statements and how they interact.
  • Understanding of banking or fintech economics: interchange, net interest income, funding, capital.
  • Extreme attention to detail and healthy perfectionism — a wrong number in a regulatory submission is expensive.
  • Structured thinking and an ownership mentality; you close the loop without being chased.
  • Comfortable working independently with the CFO, CEO and board-level stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal English

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain regulatory-ready financial models for banking licences and EMI applications.
  • Model own funds, capital planning, headroom, and stress scenarios for regulators.
  • Support legal, compliance and regulatory teams with projections and Q&A cycles.
  • Keep licence and capital models reconciled with the company model and actuals.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness in submissions.

Job description

About Finom

Finom is a European tech startup headquartered in Amsterdam, and we’re on a journey towards revolutionizing the financial landscape for entrepreneurs worldwide. Our mission is to develop an all-in-one financial B2B solution that integrates banking functions, accounting, financial management, and invoicing into a seamless, mobile-first platform.

We recently closed a €115 million Series C equity round (around $133 million), bringing our total funding to approximately $346 million. This significant investment follows a $105 million growth funding round from General Catalyst, a long-term backer since 2021 known for supporting companies like Airbnb, HubSpot, KAYAK, and Stripe.

Finom's platform goes beyond traditional banking, offering invoicing and a growing suite of features, including AI-enabled accounting, aiming to simplify financial management for entrepreneurs. We’re actively expanding our reach across key EU markets like Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.

At Finom, we’re not just redefining the entrepreneurial experience — we’re empowering our employees to make a real difference. Your work matters, and your impact extends far beyond product metrics. We nurture innovation and an inspiring work environment where bold ideas thrive, prioritizing thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and our business as a whole.

What you'll own
  • Financial projections for banking licence and payment institution / EMI applications: P&L, balance sheet, capital and liquidity, built on a basis regulators accept

  • Own funds and regulatory capital planning — requirements, headroom, and behaviour under growth and stress

  • Safeguarding and payment buffer modelling across regulated entities

  • Direct support to legal, compliance and regulatory teams through the application and Q&A cycle — defending assumptions and reworking projections against real deadlines

  • Keeping licence and capital models reconciled to the company financial model and to actuals, rather than drifting into a parallel universe

Who you are
  • 4+ years in corporate finance, strategic finance, financial modelling, transaction services, or the finance function of a bank or fintech

  • You have built or materially maintained sophisticated financial models for a bank, fintech or financial institution — not only operated someone else's

  • Exposure to regulatory financial models: licence applications, capital planning, ICAAP/ILAAP, or regulatory reporting. This is the differentiator for this role

  • Exceptional Excel / Google Sheets modelling — structure, transparency, error-proofing; you build models other people can pick up

  • Excellent working command of the three financial statements and how they interact

  • Understanding of banking or fintech economics: interchange, net interest income, funding, capital

  • Extreme attention to detail and healthy perfectionism — a wrong number in a regulatory submission is expensive

  • Structured thinking and an ownership mentality; you close the loop without being chased

  • Comfortable working independently with the CFO, CEO and board-level stakeholders

  • Strong written and verbal English

Nice to have
  • SQL and familiarity with BI tools (Metabase, Looker, Tableau)

  • Python

  • Hands-on use of AI tools (LLMs, copilots) in modelling, analysis and reporting workflows

  • Treasury, capital management or regulatory reporting background

  • Experience in a firm pursuing or holding a banking licence

  • Big Four, investment banking or consulting foundation followed by an in-house fintech role

What You Will Get In Return
  • Make a genuine impact on the product

  • Join our upward trajectory, and grow with us. We provide the resources and opportunities for continuous personal and professional development, empowering you to make a genuine impact on our evolving product.

  • Work in the EU

  • Embark on this exciting journey with us and enjoy the flexibility of traveling and working remotely or in a hybrid model across Europe.

  • Become a stock options holder

  • Unlock your inner entrepreneur and align your aspirations with ours through our Stock Options Program. This exciting opportunity is available to every team member, from junior team members to our founders.

  • Receive unwavering support and care

  • Finom stands by you at every step, embodying our commitment to your well-being and success reflected in our modern, friendly, and eco-conscious corporate culture. We offer constant support and care to ensure your Finom experience is successful and fulfilling.

  • Work & Swim program

  • Immerse yourself in our exclusive Work & Swim Program. Spend one month in a comfortable corporate apartment in enchanting Cyprus. It's the ideal opportunity to strike the perfect work-life balance while enjoying breathtaking Mediterranean views.
