Job summary

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Corporate Development Associate to join a high‑profile M&A team, based in Waltham, MA. The role combines deal sourcing, financial analysis, due diligence, and strategic communications with senior executives, across global units.

You will build valuation models, lead parts of transaction workstreams, and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. A hybrid onsite schedule and relocation support are available.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Science, or a technical field; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in M&A (acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investments).
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and negotiating business transactions including acquisition evaluation, modeling, and financial analysis.
• Demonstrated leadership ability including development and empowerment of high-potential professionals with a track record of leading transactions.
• Commitment to diverse perspectives and backgrounds in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Participate on teams in developing M&A strategies and decision support analysis for senior leadership.
• Identify, research, analyze, and value potential acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and growth opportunities.
• Support M&A strategy objectives and all phases of transaction execution.
• Analyze industry dynamics and competitive landscape for valuation.
• Build, review, and present financial models including valuation and pro forma analysis.
• Perform and lead due diligence.
• Assist in communicating strategic cases to obtain leadership support for M&A initiatives.
• Support transaction negotiations and closings.
• Assist in executing corporate divestitures.
• Support Strategic Planning / Business Development in evaluating new opportunities.

How will you make an impact?

The Corporate Development Associate will work as part of a high-profile team responsible for the development and execution of inorganic growth strategies for all Thermo Fisher business units worldwide. Additionally, the Associate provides related competitive intelligence for senior management.

Location

This is an onsite role at our headquarters in Waltham, MA. Candidates who are not local or in nearby locations must be willing to relocate, or commute to the Waltham site location. Our onsite role offers a hybrid schedule with one flexible working day per week. We offer relocation assistance for qualified applicants.

What will you do?

• Participate on teams in developing M&A strategies and decision support analysis for the senior leadership team
• Identify, research, analyze, and value potential acquisitions, joint ventures, investments, and other strategic growth opportunities
• Support M&A strategy objectives - including the development and tracking of acquisition opportunities, and all phases of transaction execution
• Analyze industry dynamics and the competitive landscape for valuation purposes
• Build, review, and present financial models including valuation and pro forma M&A analysis
• Perform and lead due diligence process
• Assist in the development and communication of the strategic case to obtain corporate leadership support for M&A initiatives
• Support the transaction negotiation and closing processes
• Assist in the execution of corporate divestitures
• Support Strategic Planning / Business Development process, including evaluation of new business opportunities and development of M&A strategy
• Work closely with and oversee Analyst and Associate level professionals

How will you get here?

• Undergraduate degree preferably in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Science, or a technical field); MBA preferred.
• Minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in M&A in the areas of acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, investment banking.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing and negotiating business transactions including acquisition evaluation, modeling, and financial analysis.
• Demonstrated leadership ability - including the development and empowerment of high-potential emerging professionals with consistent record leading, supporting and managing transactions.
• Demonstrated commitment to seeking and supporting different perspectives and backgrounds in the workplace.
• Ability to understand organization goals and proactively identify inorganic opportunities to meet them.
• Experience and demonstrated proficiency in leading and prioritizing multiple projects and initiatives
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Able to interact with senior executives and handle high-pressure settings with confidence
• Positive, enthusiastic attitude with capacity for learning quickly in a very intensive and fast-paced environment
• Exceptional financial and analytical skills including a very strong understanding of accounting principles and fundamentals of financial statement analysis

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $120,000.00-$170,100.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
