Job description

Top European Bank with a strong and growing U.S. presence is seeking a Senior Analyst within Global Risk Management (“GRM”) with approximately 2-5 years of experience in corporate or investment banking credit risk, corporate banking, leveraged finance, structured finance, or related financial institutions.

The GRM unit is responsible for the independent underwriting of corporate clients, evaluating both counterparties and individual transactions prior to approval while maintaining ongoing responsibility for monitoring portfolio risk throughout the life of each client relationship through periodic reviews, amendments, waivers, restructurings, and continuous assessment of evolving credit conditions.

Consistent with the Bank's relationship-driven corporate banking model, the team underwrites all credit exposures arising from corporate client relationships rather than specializing in a single product. Senior Analysts are expected to develop broad underwriting capabilities across multiple financing products and industry sectors while working alongside senior credit professionals on increasingly complex transactions.

This role is intended for a credit professional with strong financial analysis skills and a solid foundation in corporate credit underwriting. The successful candidate will independently analyze routine and moderately complex transactions while contributing to more sophisticated financing structures under the guidance of senior credit officers. Over time, the individual is expected to broaden product knowledge, strengthen independent credit judgment, and assume greater underwriting responsibility across industry sectors as business needs evolve.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform credit analysis and underwriting for corporate clients across a broad range of relationship banking products, including cash flow-based corporate lending, revolving credit facilities, trade finance, structured finance, derivative transactions, acquisition financing, equipment finance, leasing transactions, and other specialized financing structures, commensurate with experience.
  • Analyze historical and projected financial performance, liquidity, leverage, cash flow generation, and repayment capacity to assess obligor creditworthiness.
  • Assist in evaluating transaction structures, collateral packages, covenant frameworks, guarantees, and other structural protections to identify key credit risks and mitigants.
  • Review and develop familiarity with legal documentation, including credit agreements, security documents, trade finance documentation, ISDA agreements, borrowing base provisions, guarantees, and other transaction documents relevant to assigned transactions.
  • Prepare clear and well-supported credit memoranda and risk recommendations for presentation to senior credit officers and Credit Committees.
  • Conduct and monitor annual credit reviews, covenant compliance, amendments, waivers, and restructurings, while proactively identifying emerging credit risks.
  • Partner with Relationship Managers, Product Specialists, Legal, Operations, and senior members of Credit Risk Management to facilitate transaction execution while maintaining independent credit analysis.
  • Develop expertise across multiple industry sectors and financing products, demonstrating the flexibility to support changing portfolio and business priorities.
Qualifications:
  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in credit risk management, with a strong focus on corporate, structured, and leveraged finance within a corporate or commercial banking environment.
  • Strong understanding of credit underwriting, financial analysis, and risk assessment across different structures and products.
  • Working knowledge of loan documentation, trade finance instruments, and ISDA agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound risk decisions in high-value, complex transactions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate risk positions clearly to senior stakeholders and credit committees.
  • Understanding of corporate banking policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and approval processes, including U.S. lending regulations.
  • Track record of building effective relationships with internal partners, peers, and external stakeholders to deliver timely, high-quality credit decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
