We are seeking an experienced environmental attorney to join the AWS Legal Regulatory Risk Management & Compliance team. You will focus on environmental compliance and sustainable design of AWS’s global physical infrastructure, advising a rapidly evolving business on how to bring new data centers online responsibly and at pace.

Key job responsibilities

• Advising business and engineering teams on environmental requirements for new AI infrastructure, from site selection through construction and operations
• Developing and deploying AI-powered tools and technology solutions that enhance environmental compliance mechanisms at scale

A day in the life

Your day will blend strategic problem-solving with hands-on legal support for one of the most dynamic infrastructure businesses in the world. You might spend the morning advising on the environmental permitting strategy for a new campus, the afternoon collaborating with engineers on an AI tool that streamlines compliance reporting, and close the day preparing for a community engagement session. No two days look the same.

• Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
• 5+ years of post bar admission legal experience
• Experience handling ambiguous or undefined challenges through strong problem solving abilities
• Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
• Legal experience in environmental compliance and litigation matters
• Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in-house work
• Experience managing multiple projects and priorities across teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Previous data center compliance experience
• Demonstrated experience writing successfully for diverse audiences
