Job Purpose

Provides support to the Associate General Counsel and advises various business units on a broad range of issues.

THIS IS A 100% REMOTE POSITION.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Draft and review various types of agreements including confidentiality, consulting, services agreements; commercial vendor and other services-related agreements; sales RFP/RFI responses; and customer contracts.
  • Investigate and analyze a broad range of legal issues, including those related to contracts and risk management and, within appropriate limitations, make autonomous decisions regarding the same.
  • Work collaboratively with internal clients to respond to legal inquiries covering a broad range of topics, set appropriate priorities, and deliver results within the timelines established.
  • Track open matters for the commercial legal team and ensure that reviews and approvals are carried out quickly, effectively and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Assist with training on contract and risk management.
  • Assist in the development and refinement of contract and policy templates.
  • Assist with company’s consumer complaint and subpoena functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to develop strong business relationships across functions.
  • Ability to apply practical, legal, institutional, and commercial judgment to ambiguous situations to problem solve.
  • Ability to understand business objectives and bring effective solutions to meet those goals.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of contracts and balance priorities effectively with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate
  • Active state bar license
  • 7+ years of experience negotiating complex commercial transactions for sales and procurement
  • Demonstrated track record of autonomous judgement.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial contracts and contract law

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as an in-house attorney
  • Experience working for a tech company
  • Experience representing or working with state or county agencies

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and a variety of office equipment.
  • Occasionally may need to reach, stoop, or kneel.
