Job summary

HEXPOL is seeking a Corporate Controls Engineer to join our technical team and support automation across U.S.-based rubber mixing facilities. You will troubleshoot, integrate equipment, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to keep operations running efficiently.

Responsibilities include PLC programming, equipment integration, panel development, and cross-functional collaboration with project engineers and technicians. Occasional travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Controls Engineering required.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing (rubber, chemical, plastics) preferred.
  • Proven Ignition experience for data analysis, reporting, and alarms.
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience with 480V and below.
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs, Structured Text, Ethernet IP/Remote IO, and basic IT networking.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in cross-functional teams.

Overview

HEXPOL is hiring for a Corporate Controls Engineer to join our technical team and provide hands-on automation and controls support across all U.S.-based rubber mixing facilities. This role will play a critical part in keeping operations running efficiently through proactive troubleshooting, equipment integration, and continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll collaborate with plant teams, project engineers, and technical staff to support production systems, drive process reliability, and lead automation projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC programs on various platforms.
  • Integrate production equipment into various supported operations systems.
  • Program and control VFD’s via PLC controls and/or locally as needed.
  • Develop electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Develop, build and troubleshoot panels
  • Support locations remotely on an on-call basis.
  • Assist with the management of projects to support the Project Engineers, as needed.
  • Travel may be required to fulfill duties, up to 30%; may include international travel.
  • Perform any other project/task as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Controls Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in Controls Engineering required.
  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience in manufacturing, (rubber, chemical and/or plastics industry preferred).
  • Proven experience with Ignition application platforms for data analysis, reporting, and alarm configurations.
  • Demonstrated electrical troubleshooting abilities (480V and below)
  • Familiarity with: Allen Bradley PLC’s. Structured text; Ethernet IP/Remote IO and Basic IT Networking troubleshooting.
  • Lean manufacturing experience.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer/systems skills – MS Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook).
  • Demonstrated self-starter and works well with minimal on-location direction. Ability to work alone or with others depending on the task but always willing to work in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, cooperation, collaboration, and team-building skills.
  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines, and manage a broad range of responsibilities.
  • High degree of concentration, attention to detail, high energy, self-motivated and self-reliant.
  • Ability to interact well with all personality types in a leadership role.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
