Corporate Controller – Chicago, IL

Compensation Range: $135,000 – $150,000 Commensurate with experience.

The Corporate Controller's role is to direct the accounting and finance activities. The position, comprising four team members, will be responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the enterprise's General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and Accounts Payable areas. The Corporate Controller will also work closely with the Project Finance and Governance Manager to produce accurate reporting on project financials.

The Corporate Controller is an integral member of the national leadership team and directly influences our profitability and growth. Reporting to our VP of Finance and Accounting, you will work to grow your immediate team, effect positive changes, and shape the way for a prosperous 2025 and beyond!

Responsibilities
  1. Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards, domestic and international regulatory requirements.
  2. Maintain internal controls and accounting oversight for the proper recognition of project revenue and expenses across the enterprise.
  3. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close.
  4. Prepare all financial reports across the enterprise, including reports to Board Members and other external stakeholders.
  5. In conjunction with the VP of Finance and Accounting, establish and implement short- and long-term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
  6. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local accounting standards by remaining knowledgeable about existing, new, and future legislation.
  7. Lead annual CPA financial review, tax and bank audits, assist with 401k audit, union audits, as needed.
  8. Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize the protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflow.
  9. Oversee and support the accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
Qualifications
  • Prior leadership experience is required.
  • Experience within the AEC industry is required.
  • Advanced Excel skills; proficient with pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and similar functions.
  • Deltek experience is highly preferred.
  • CPA certification is strongly preferred.
Candidate Background
  • 10+ years’ experience as a senior-level accountant and/or prior Controller experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
