Job description

Description

Who We Are

We are not building an ordinary company, and we are not looking for ordinary leaders.

We believe great organizations are built by healthy, intentional, high-character people. Culture is not an afterthought here; it is our competitive advantage. We invest deeply in our leaders because we know that when our people grow, the company grows.

Every week begins with a focused Monday stand-up to drive clarity and momentum. We communicate openly and efficiently. On Thursdays, we gather for lunch, not just to eat, but to strengthen connection and invest in the whole person. Each quarter, we host RallyXL, an all-day leadership intensive dedicated to alignment, growth, and raising our standard of excellence.

If you are a serious leader, someone with conviction, humility, and the courage to build something that matters, and you want to do that work alongside a team that refuses to drift into mediocrity, we would like to talk with you.

What We Do

Rally is a growing management company that owns and operates a diverse portfolio of businesses spanning five verticals: healthcare, humanitarian initiatives, residential and commercial construction, impact-driven ventures, and fleet repair services.

Our construction division is a cornerstone of that portfolio, and it requires disciplined financial leadership to scale with strength.

Grounded in our faith-forward approach, we are committed to stewardship, operational excellence, and meaningful impact in the communities we serve.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a strategic, high-capacity Corporate Controller to lead the financial engine of our companies.

This is not a back-office accounting role. It is a leadership seat at the table.

The Controller will own financial clarity across a multi-entity portfolio, drive accountability into every business unit, strengthen the systems and controls those businesses run on, and give leadership the confident, data-informed footing it needs to grow.

The right candidate understands construction accounting at a granular level, including job costing, WIP schedules, revenue recognition, and margin protection, and can also step back to see the full strategic picture across a diversified portfolio.

What You’ll Lead

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process and deliver timely, accurate consolidated financial statements across all portfolio entities.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, and translate results into performance insight leadership can act on.
  • Define and manage the KPIs that drive operational excellence across each vertical, and report on them consistently.

Construction Accounting

  • Own construction accounting operations, including job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion revenue recognition, and project profitability tracking.
  • Partner with project managers and field leadership to protect margin, flag cost overruns early, and keep job-level financials current.

Systems, Controls & Process

  • Establish and refine accounting systems, internal controls, and scalable financial processes that can support continued growth and acquisition.
  • Own the general ledger structure and chart of accounts across entities, and lead the accounting team’s use of Sage Intacct (or equivalent ERP) as the company scales.
  • Identify opportunities to increase margin, reduce waste, and improve cash flow across the portfolio.

Treasury & Cash Management

  • Manage cash positioning, banking relationships, and short-term liquidity planning across multiple entities.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including collections and vendor terms, to protect working capital.

Compliance & Risk

  • Ensure compliance, accuracy, and strong internal controls across all financial operations.
  • Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and regulatory filings with external CPA firms, and serve as the primary internal point of contact for those engagements.
  • Maintain insurance, bonding, and lender-reporting compliance for the construction division.

Team Leadership & Strategic Partnership

  • Build, lead, and develop the accounting and bookkeeping team supporting the portfolio, including staff across individual entities.
  • Partner directly with the CEO and executive leadership to guide financial strategy, capital planning, and major business decisions.
  • Communicate financial insight clearly to both operators and executives, translating numbers into decisions.
What We’re Looking For

Required

  • A steady, high-character leader who takes ownership and delivers results.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in corporate accounting, including managing financial operations for a company or portfolio of companies.
  • Direct experience in construction accounting: job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
  • Fluency in P&L management, forecasting, budgeting, and project-level financial oversight.
  • Strong systems thinking and a track record of building or improving financial processes and controls.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to communicate financial insight clearly and confidently to both operators and executives.
  • Motivated by purpose, accountability, and building something meaningful.

Preferred

  • CPA license or active progress toward one.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or a comparable mid-market ERP system.
  • Experience consolidating financials across multiple legal entities or a holding-company structure.
  • Prior experience in a multi-vertical, multi-entity, or private equity-backed portfolio environment.
  • Experience managing or scaling an accounting team.
Compensation & Benefits

Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience, and includes a performance-based bonus component tied to company and portfolio results.

Full details are provided during the interview process, and include health benefits, paid time off, and participation in company culture investments such as RallyXL and weekly team rhythms.

Why This Role Matters

The financial health of our companies directly impacts our ability to grow, serve, and steward well. This role is foundational to our future.

If you are a disciplined financial leader who wants influence, ownership, and the opportunity to build something enduring, we would like to meet you.
