Pugh Executive Search is assisting in recruiting a Corporate Controller for a Fort Worth–based client. The Controller will lead up to 10 accounting professionals and own day-to-day accounting and consolidated reporting.

This hands-on leader will manage financial and operational reporting, ensure accuracy of consolidated statements, and oversee audits. Strong internal controls and process discipline are essential for reporting integrity across the organization.

Qualifications

• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
• 10+ years of overall accounting experience, construction industry preferred
• CPA required, degree in Finance or Accounting
• Strong understanding of percentage of completion, project accounting and ASC 606 revenue recognition
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience leading financial audits
• High proficiency with Excel and MS Office; Great Plains experience; ERP implementation
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ethical conduct and integrity
• Ability to motivate teams and manage multiple projects
• Hybrid work environment - 2 days per week WFH

Job description

Pugh Executive Search is assisting in the recruitment of a Corporate Controller for our $350M Fort Worth–based client. Reporting directly to the CFO, this leader will oversee a team of up to 10 Accounting professionals and will hold primary, day‑to‑day responsibility for all accounting and consolidated reporting.

The Controller will manage financial and operational reporting, ensure the accuracy and timeliness of consolidated financial statements, and oversee all audit activities. This role requires a strong “hands‑on” leader who can establish and maintain effective internal controls, drive process discipline, and ensure reporting integrity across the organization.

This is a highly visible position with significant impact on financial rigor, operational alignment, and organizational performance.

Requirements:

• Proven working experience as a Financial Controller
• 10+ years of overall accounting experience, construction industry preferred
• Degree in Finance or Accounting, CPA required
• Thorough understanding of percentage of completion, project accounting and ASC 606 - revenue recognition
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
• Experience leading financial audits
• High proficiency with Excel and with all MS Office applications. Experience with Great Plains preferred. ERP Implementation experience required
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Listens and gets clarification.
