Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum five years' experience in pharma/biotech or life sciences corporate communications (in-house or agency). Familiarity with U.S. social media regulatory considerations.
  • Experience creating content across multiple channels: executive communications, employee comms, social media, digital content, presentations, newsletters, and storytelling.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and content development skills; ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Experience managing corporate social media channels, editorial calendars, content creation, and native platform campaigns.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and analyzing paid social media campaigns.
  • Experience supporting internal communications and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of corporate reputation management, brand positioning, messaging, and best practices.
  • Experience supporting media relations, media monitoring, and coverage reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and produce content supporting corporate priorities, milestones, scientific advancements, employee engagement, and reputation objectives.
  • Translate complex business, scientific, and organizational information into compelling communications.
  • Create and edit emails, intranet content, newsletters, executive communications, presentations, event communications, social media content, and other assets.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, voice, tone, and brand standards across channels.
  • Lead BioCryst's corporate social media program with strategy, planning, content creation, publishing, and analytics.
  • Monitor trends and metrics to optimize engagement and content effectiveness.
  • Lead internal communications through email, intranet, newsletters, and events; manage intake and approvals.
  • Support media relations with milestones, announcements, and science developments; monitor coverage.
  • Coordinate with agencies and vendors; manage budgets, SLAs, and administrative processes.
  • Support MLR/PRC review processes and company meetings or leadership engagements.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Communications, the Corporate Communications Content Manager serves as a central content creator and communications partner across BioCryst's Corporate Communications function. This is a writing- and production-intensive role responsible for developing, producing, and distributing compelling content that advances the company's reputation, corporate narrative, strategic priorities, business milestones, culture, and employee engagement initiatives across internal and external audiences. Working closely with Corporate Communications colleagues and cross-functional partners, this individual translates complex business, scientific, and organizational information into clear, engaging communications for internal and external audiences. Responsibilities include corporate storytelling, social media, internal and executive communications, digital content, media relations support, and content production across written, visual, and video formats. The Corporate Communications Content Manager is a versatile communicator, content producer, and project manager who manages multiple initiatives simultaneously while ensuring consistency in messaging, voice, tone, and brand standards. The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with strong execution skills and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Content Development & Corporate Storytelling
  • Develop and produce content supporting corporate priorities, business milestones, scientific advancements, employee engagement, and corporate reputation objectives.
  • Translate complex business, scientific, and organizational information into compelling, audience-appropriate communications.
  • Create and edit a variety of communications materials, including emails, intranet content, newsletters, executive communications, presentations, event communications, social media content, and other corporate communications assets.
  • Ensure consistency of messaging, voice, tone, and brand standards across all communications channels.
Social Media Strategy & Content Management
  • Lead BioCryst's corporate social media program, including strategy, editorial planning, content creation, publishing, community management, paid promotion, and analytics.
  • Develop and execute social media campaigns that support corporate communications objectives, thought leadership, and company milestones.
  • Monitor social media trends, conversations, risks, and opportunities to inform strategy and content development.
  • Analyze performance metrics and industry benchmarks to optimize audience engagement and content effectiveness.
Internal Communications & Employee Engagement
  • Lead content development and publishing for internal communications channels, including email, intranet, newsletters, and events.
  • Manage Internal Communications intake requests, timelines, approvals, and project status.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives through strategic communications planning and content creation.
Media Relations & Corporate Communications
  • Support media relations activities related to company milestones, announcements, scientific developments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Monitor media coverage and develop reports, coverage summaries, and leadership updates.
  • Ensure alignment across external communications, internal messaging, and the corporate narrative.
Project Management & Operations
  • Manage communications projects from concept through execution, partnering with stakeholders across the organization.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and vendors to develop communications materials and content assets.
  • Manage vendor budgets, statements of work, invoices, and related administrative processes, as appropriate.
  • Support MLR/PRC review processes, as needed.
  • Provide communications support for company meetings, employee events, leadership engagements, and other corporate activities.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field required.
  • Minimum five years' experience in pharma/biotech or life sciences corporate communications (in-house or agency), including familiarity with U.S. social media regulatory considerations.
  • Demonstrated success creating content across multiple channels, including executive communications, employee communications, social media, digital content, presentations, newsletters, and corporate storytelling.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and content development skills with the ability to simplify complex scientific and business topics.
  • Experience managing corporate social media channels, editorial calendars, content creation, and native platform campaigns.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and analyzing paid social media campaigns.
  • Experience supporting internal communications and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of corporate reputation management, brand positioning, messaging, and communications best practices.
  • Experience supporting media relations, media monitoring, and coverage reporting preferred.
  • Experience collaborating with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, agencies, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
  • Up to 20% domestic travel.

This role is primarily remote, with regular in-office collaboration required at our Boston, MA or Durham, NC location.
