Summary

Work as part of a respected team of security professionals protecting people and property of General Dynamics (GD) NASSCO and U.S. Navy personnel and ships based at GD NASSCO. Bring expertise, excellence and commitment to protecting some of our Nation’s most valuable assets. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, exceptional customer‑service skills, heightened situational awareness, and thrive in a fast‑paced, continually changing environment. Prior security, law‑enforcement, or military experience is preferred.

Essential Functions and Duties

• Demonstrate the ability to work independently with little guidance and supervision.
• Develop leadership and mentoring skills, providing guidance and direction for junior officers.
• Serve as the shift lead officer and master required skillsets.
• Display exceptional customer‑service and communication skills.
• Handle crisis situations calmly and efficiently, making effective decisions.
• Understand, retain, implement, and teach all security procedures as outlined by GD NASSCO and the U.S. Navy, demonstrating responsible and dependable behavior.
• Be open to change and adapt to new information and unexpected obstacles.
• Maintain focus and situational awareness in a stressful environment.
• Continually develop critical‑thinking skills necessary to mitigate actual and potential security threats.

Assigned Duties

• Facilitate access to NASSCO properties at pedestrian gates, delivery gates, corporate offices, and warehouses.
• Interact with visitors and employees, provide directions and respond to inquiries.
• Screen and bag‑check incoming and departing employees and visitors.
• Screen commercial and industrial deliveries.
• Perform patrol duties, both foot and vehicle.
• Enforce GD NASSCO parking rules and regulations.
• Staff regular and emergency telephone system.
• Dispatch medical services, fire department, ambulance service and law‑enforcement agencies and assist responding agencies with facility entrance.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and review archived footage.
• Document all incidents in objective and comprehensive reports.
• Program, activate, and deactivate NASSCO temporary badges.
• Collate, author and transmit shift pass‑down reports.
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess a valid California Guard Card or P.O.S.T certificate.
• Proficient in the English language (read, write, speak, comprehend).
• Successfully complete a background investigation and drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Excellent customer‑service skills.
• Experience with MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and basic computer operations.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive company vehicles and golf carts.
• Open to a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
• Maintain a neat, clean, and well‑groomed appearance per GD NASSCO grooming standards.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing and walking throughout shift.
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Occasional ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
• Ability to work in various environments such as cold weather, rain, and heat.

Pay Scale

$43,100 to $71,800. This range reflects salary considerations based on skill sets, experience, training, and education. General Dynamics NASSCO also offers medical and dental insurance coverage, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, flexible spending accounts/HSAs, life and disability insurance, company‑paid holidays and paid time off, wellness coaching, and onsite health services.
