General Dynamics NASSCO is looking for an Area Manager to coordinate and assist trades and subcontractors in meeting project goals in San Diego. Responsibilities include monitoring trades, ensuring safety and cleanliness, and developing work plans.
This role requires a high school diploma, supervisory experience, and knowledge of shipbuilding practices. The position offers a pay scale of $76,500 - $113,600 plus potential overtime and various benefits including medical, dental, and 401(k).

Coordinate and assist trades and subcontractors to perform work within their area(s) of responsibility to meet project goals. Prioritize, sequence and coordinate all activities to completion in accordance with a plan, schedule and budget. Reports to the Ship Manager. Liaison closely with Quality Assurance, Planning, Engineering, Subcontractors, Materials, Safety, Customers, Vendors and other NASSCO Departments as appropriate. Develop inter-personal communications with Trade Supervision. Actively participate in the creation of policies/procedures that will enhance the role of Area Manager.
Incumbent will frequently be exposed to dust, welding/burning fumes and smoke and must be able to spend up to 75% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates where noise level is usually moderate to extremely noisy. The remaining 25% of the time will be performed in an air conditioned office with low noise level.
Directly accountable for completion of assigned area, adhering to schedule, budgets and safe working conditions.
$76,500 - $113,600
The pay range is a reasonable estimate of the annual pay based on full-time work at the hourly rate for this role. Additional income from overtime pay is estimated to be up to $20,000 annually.
