Job summary

Headfarmer is seeking an accounting leader to own the corporate accounting function on a scaling multi-entity platform. You will manage a four-person team, driving month-end close, GAAP compliance, and cross-functional project reporting.

You will report to the Director of Accounting and shape processes while mentoring seniors and staff. This on-site role offers visibility across Development, Revenue Cycle, and Managed Care teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Accounting or Finance.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• CPA strongly preferred; exceptional people-leadership or PE-adjacent background considered if strong.

Responsibilities

• Manage month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, flux analysis, and reviews.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and support internal/external audits.
• Oversee payroll, benefits, shared services, and GL allocations.
• Provide cross-functional support with Development, Design & Construction, and equipment planning.

I'm partnering on a search for a fast-growing, well-capitalized healthcare services company that partners with health systems nationally to develop and operate outpatient surgical facilities. This is a strong opportunity for an accounting leader who wants real ownership of a corporate accounting function inside a scaling, multi-entity platform.

About the role:

This is a clean opening on an engaged, motivated team that's ready for a hands-on leader to help raise the technical bar and keep developing their skills. You'll report to the Director of Accounting and lead a team of four (two Seniors, a Staff Accountant, and a part-time accounting intern).

What you'll own:

• Month-end close: journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, and monthly operational reviews
• Accounting policy and GAAP compliance, plus internal/external audit support
• Oversight of payroll, benefits, shared services, and allocation transactions within the GL
• Cross-functional support for Development, Design & Construction, and equipment planning project tracking/reporting
• Team leadership — hiring, training, mentoring, performance management
• Ad hoc reporting and process improvement initiatives

What we're looking for:

• BS in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• CPA strongly preferred (the team already includes CPAs in senior roles, so this matters for team dynamics) — would only flex for someone with an exceptional people-leadership or PE-adjacent background
• A mix of public and private accounting experience — straight-from-public candidates without general ledger depth won't be the right fit
• A genuine passion for coaching and developing talent, not just reviewing work

Work model:

Currently on-site 3x/week, with the possibility of moving to full-time on-site — candidates should be comfortable with that flexibility.
