Generac Power Systems in Wisconsin is seeking a Corporate Accounting Intern to support month-end close, reporting and consolidation tasks. You'll gain hands-on experience across sub-ledgers, trial balances and internal controls while contributing to key projects.

Ideal applicants are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum 3.0 GPA and can commit about 10 hours per week. Strong MS Office skills and clear written/verbal communication are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in monthly close activities and updates for subsidiary submissions.
  • Assist with consolidation, elimination entries and ledgers.
  • Support quarterly/annual SEC filing processes (10-Q/10-K) as needed.
  • Assist BEA reporting and inventory procedures across subsidiaries.
  • Contribute to financial integration of acquired companies and track capital contributions.

The Corporate Accounting Intern will serve as a valued member of the corporate accounting team. The position will be responsible for various financial and consolidation tasks involving month-end close, internal and external reporting and master data support. The position will also assist with various projects necessary to support ongoing business initiatives, as needed. The candidate will have exposure to many levels and functions within the organization.

Monthly Close Responsibilities

  • Provide daily subsidiary financial submission updates to help ensure submissions are complete and accurate

  • Compile and communicate the subsidiary monthly close scorecard

  • Assist with mapping new subsidiary trial balance accounts into consolidation structure

  • Prepare monthly consolidation elimination journal entries, and post corporate accounting ledgers

  • Participate in monthly subsidiary financial statement reviews and related team meetings

Quarterly/Annual Responsibilities

  • Assist with 10-Q and 10-K SEC filing processes, as needed

  • Assist with the tracking and review of inventory count procedures across the subsidiaries

  • Assist with preparation of statutory reports and related audit requests

Other Miscellaneous Duties

  • BEA (Bureau of Economic Analysis) Reporting – complete forms for the BEA department with applicable financial data

  • Assist with the financial integration of newly acquired companies

  • Track and organize capital contributions

  • Additional analysis or ad hoc projects, as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program with an emphasis on Accounting or Finance

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Ability to work 10 hours per week during the school year (additional hours can be considered if desired)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sophomore year status or higher

  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands requiring initiative and independence

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
