Job summary

Walker Consultants, a leading engineering and consultancy firm, seeks an Accountant to join our finance team in a hybrid role. You will support month-end close, manage GL activities, prepare budgets, and assist with internal controls and audits.

The role emphasizes collaboration across departments, leveraging AI tools to enhance analysis, reporting, and processes. 2–4 years in finance/accounting and GAAP knowledge are preferred; Deltek experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
• Experience with ERP software (Deltek is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/Word).
• Experience with Co-pilot, ChatGPT, Power BI or similar dashboards is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, written and verbal.

Your Role at Walker

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. • Perform general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for discrepancies.

• Assist in the preparation of budgets, monitoring performance against targets.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

• Assist with the identification, design, and implementation of AI automation tools.
• Participate in tasks and research with the current Strategic Plan implementation.

Qualifications and Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in Accounting or Finance.
• Knowledge of GAAP and other accounting principles.
• Experience and Proficiency with ERP software (Deltek is a plus).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. (Advanced skills with Excel and Word).
• Experience in Co-pilot, Chat GPT, Power BI (or other financial dashboard software) is advantageous.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Work Environment

• This role typically operates in an office environment, with occasional travel required for meetings or training sessions.
• Hybrid (2-3 days per week in office) schedule is available after initial training and onboarding.

Compensation & Benefits

At Walker Consultants, we are committed to maintaining fairness and equity in our pay practices. For this role, the estimated base salary range is $65,000 – $85,000 per year. The final salary offered may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, location, internal equity, and other considerations permitted by law.
