Job summary

Pepper Construction seeks an Accountant to join its Barrington, IL office and contribute to the corporate accounting team. You will handle accounting for multiple operating entities, including fixed asset management, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting, CPA or CPA candidate, 2+ years of experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with accounting systems; Workday Adaptive is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Accounting is required.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze issues and recommend solutions.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management.
• High level of Excel proficiency; Workday Adaptive a plus.

Responsibilities

• Record fixed asset purchases, disposals and depreciation calculations; conduct annual fixed asset audit.
• Prepare and review journal entries.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts; resolve discrepancies.
• Understand and apply accounting guidance, laws, or contract terms for processing financial transactions.
• Develop and implement internal controls and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations to ensure accurate cost tracking and reporting.
• Participate in the year-end audit process.

Pepper's corporate office is looking for an Accountant to join our growing accounting team based in our Barrington, IL office.

What You'll Do

This role is an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of the growing Pepper construction corporate accounting team. This position will have responsibilities conducting accounting for multiple operating entities. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Record fixed asset purchases, disposals and depreciation calculations and conduct annual fixed asset audit.
• Prepare and review journal entries.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
• Understand and apply all necessary accounting guidance, laws and/or contract terms as applicable to processing of accounting and financial transactions
• Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls and process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate with project managers and operational teams to ensure accurate cost tracking and financial reporting
• Participate in the year-end audit process
• Special projects and analysis as needed

What We're Looking For

• High level of technical fluency in Excel and various accounting systems, Workday Adaptive experience a plus

The annual salary midpoint for this role is $82,000. We consider many factors when determining the actual hiring salary. These factors may include location, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, internal equity, and market demands.
