The Chester County Coroner’s Office is seeking a Coroner’s Investigator to support daily operations in both administrative and field capacities. Duties include case investigations, narrative reporting, and assisting with autopsy-related tasks as needed.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree, ABMDI certification within 18 months, and PA investigator certification within 6 months. 21+ with a valid license required; offers opportunity for growth and cross-training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the position.
• ABMDI certification to be obtained within 18 months of employment.
• Experience in coroner/medical examiner environment or related fields.
• Investigator certification through PA Coroner’s Education Board within 6 months.
• Must be 21+ with valid driver’s license and county vehicle use.

Responsabilités

• Assist daily operations of the Coroner’s Office for admin and field duties.
• Investigate cases, prepare narrative reports and scene investigations.
• Update case data, manage electronic files, and monitor case management systems.
• Issue and manage death certificates in EDRS; notify next of kin as needed.
• Coordinate transport, cremation, and handling of remains with partners.
• Assist with training, mentoring, and interns; testify when required.
• Support interagency liaison duties and participate in task forces.
