The Opportunity
Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive and cost-effective products for treatment of vascular disease. Our portfolio includes drug-eluting stents, guide wires, balloon dilatation catheters, imaging catheters and software, vessel closure devices, peripheral stents, thrombectomy catheters and atherectomy devices.
We currently have an opportunity for a Coronary National Sales Trainer. This role is field based/remote. This role will promote Abbott Vascular products through education of current and potential customers and procedure coverage within a defined territory/region/area by providing clinical education and sales support in order to assist in achieving projected sales goals and increasing sales revenues within assigned product lines.
What You’ll Work On
- Interpret and implement training and education strategy
- Ensure scalability, reproducibility, professionalism and effectiveness of training content
- Continuously develop the New Hire Sales Training Program
- Add new modules and activities aligned with company needs, incorporating current learning/training techniques and industry best practices
- Provide ongoing review and evaluation of current training practices to ensure quality and determine audience suitability, recommending revisions where necessary
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to develop training around launches of new products/programs and new sales aids
- Work with the Sales Training Manager to implement national training programs and initiatives; communicate with leadership
- Identify and prioritize training needs through collaboration with the leadership team of the assigned market
- Stay current on industry and market trends, assess impact on customer groups and design curricula accordingly
- Benchmark against competitive systems/programs
- Design and implement e-learning initiatives; measure training effectiveness
- Document and file all training records; maintain adherence to Quality System, Code of Business Conduct and Operating Guidelines
- Own continuing education efforts for the US sales force
- Lead critical strategic projects for the sales training organization
- Travel with targeted Account Managers and Clinical Specialists to assess, create development plans, and enhance their ability to represent Abbott Vascular; collaborate with RSDs on business planning and coaching
- Support regional/national training meetings by developing and delivering content
- Support select Trade Shows and Med Ed programs at booths and hands-on trainings
- Develop the Field Sales Team’s selling ability by providing tactical sales training; responsibilities split between Field Training and Training Projects; 50% travel
- Teach clinical and marketing message delivery; product line competencies; clinical and sales acumen; data interpretation; internal resource utilization; business planning; targeting; CEU delivery and presentation skills
- Occasionally support national/area/regional training meetings, tradeshows, new-hire training as a guest speaker, hands-on training at key Med Ed programs, and act as a frontline resource for Account Managers and Clinical Specialists
- Lead and own strategic projects, including building curricula for new products, developing tools and campaigns, and integration of new concepts into the sales force; national scope
- Improve selling skills and plan performance; act as an expert resource for the sales team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to travel 30% within assigned region
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to learn, understand and train highly technical concepts to sales team members
- Proficient in computer applications as needed to support the role
- Experience with Field Sales applications
- Experience applying adult learning principles to classroom and sales training; strong presentation skills
- Demonstrated effective written communications

Base pay: $97,300.00 – $194,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
