Description

The Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team as a Core Research Associate I. The ideal individual will support the Brain Bank in day-to-day service and operations, as well as on research projects with the opportunity to be on papers.

The Neuropathology Brain Bank & Research CoRE is an Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Dean’s Center of Research Excellence. We focus on the brain donation process and research support of neurodegenerative diseases such as dementias, movement disorders, and traumatic brain injury. This includes speaking to potential donors and gathering clinical history, processing the brain tissue in multiple states, performing and analyzing histology, autopsy report writing, and molecular/genetic analysis. Additionally, we distribute human brain tissue and perform histology services for outside researchers.


Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day operations and maintenance of the Brain Bank – inventory, scheduling, etc.
  • Assist physicians/prosectors during brain tissue dissection.
  • Help with troubleshooting and protocol refinement.
  • Support for rotating students/interns/volunteers.
  • Data entry and management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $58661 - $76727 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
