Job summary

Kitsap Credit Union is hiring a Core Programmer Analyst II to work in a hybrid mode from our Bremerton, WA office. The role focuses on core banking platform expertise, day-to-day operations, maintenance, and programming jobs on the core platform.

The incumbent will analyze operations, ensure data quality, and support core and third-party integrations. Qualified candidates have strong UNIX/AIX experience, mainframe background, and skills in HTML, SQL, JavaScript, and PowerShell.

Qualifications

  • Associate/Technical two-year degree or Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent, or five years of core mainframe experience.
  • Five years of UNIX and AIX experience.
  • Five years as a system programmer analyst.
  • Two years of HTML, SQL, JavaScript, and PowerShell experience.
  • Five years of mainframe backup and scheduling software experience.

Responsibilities

  • Create, modify, update system jobs, schedules, reports, and procedures for operational solutions.
  • Monitor core databases for data quality, efficiency, reliability, and performance; suggest enhancements.
  • Research and implement new core provider solutions as requested by management.
  • Test and install software releases and hardware/firmware updates.
  • Provide 2nd level technical support for core-related tickets; operate 24x7 on-call as needed.
  • Engage with vendors for ongoing system support, upgrades, and troubleshooting.

About The Role

Kitsap Credit Union is hiring a Core Programmer Analyst II to work hybrid out of our corporate office in Bremerton, Washington. This position is responsible for the subject matter expertise on the core banking platform to include analyzing the day-to-day operations, maintenance, and provide technical support. It will include programming various jobs on the core banking platform.

Salary Range: $91,536.68 - $103,000 depending on experience

Bonus Target: 9% potential incentive of base pay

Principal Accountabilities
  • Create, modify, update system jobs, schedules, reports, and procedures to comply with all operational solutions.
  • Monitor core databases for data quality, efficiency, reliability, and performance. Recommend potential enhancements in process or performance.
  • Research and implement new solutions from the core provider that are requested by management.
  • Test and install all software releases and install all hardware/firmware updates required.
  • Support projects to enhance, upgrade of core banking environment and third-party applications. Demonstrate service excellence in delivering successful solutions, including helping define requirements, application deployment, implementing best-practices, supporting testing efforts, and providing documentation while working with business units.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing. Execute the disaster recovery plan as directed by management.
  • Effectively communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders including management, development teams, and end users.
  • Provide second level technical support for Core related tickets. Trend core system tickets to find resolutions to deeper issues.
  • Provide 24X7 on-call system support for Information Technology and cover shifts as required on a rotation basis.
  • Liaise with vendors as needed for on-going system support, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality about core systems and data.
  • Provides 3rd party integrations support using SymConnect/SymXchange/Power frame integrations methods.
  • Participate in routine system maintenance. Modify job files, batch processing, parameters, test directories, consoles and print queues, security groups and other items associated with the Symitar core and OpCon automation software. Make changes at the request of Credit Union management and staff.
Qualifications And Education Requirements
  • Associate's or technical two-year degree in a field related to data processing, or Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education, or five years of experience with core mainframe systems.
  • Five years of experience with UNIX and AIX.
  • Five years of experience as a system programmer analyst.
  • Two years of experience HTML, SQL, JAVA script, and Poweshell.
  • Five years of experience with mainframe backup and scheduling software.
Supervisory Status

This position does not supervise others.

Working Conditions

Required

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 75% of the time.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines.
  • Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
  • Constantly positions self in work environment.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors, vendors and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
  • Must be able to detect objects at a distance.
  • On occasion will move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
  • Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that require travel in outdoor weather conditions.
