Core Ops Digital & Automation Lead

Overview

This role serves as a Core Operations liaison for all new innovative technologies advancement special projects in OTC and Nutritionals factories at the Myerstown site. The candidate works with a multidisciplinary dynamic team and is accountable for end-to-end (E2E) ownership, both tactically and strategically, of Core Operations projects implementations associated with Factory of the Future initiatives. The responsibilities include ensuring inputs from Core Operations teams to all special projects associated with the Factory of the Future program to ensure seamless operations and adherence to Core Operations teams' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Act as VACC (Visionary, Architect, Coach, Catalyst) to build, coach, and mentor a high‑performing team of professionals, promoting a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • People Development: Build a diverse, inclusive talent pool; recruit, hire, and onboard new employees based on team requirements.
  • Culture & Accountability: Foster a culture of transparency of priorities and metrics, empowering every team and employee to take accountability.
  • Upskilling and Training: Identify training needs and develop or source programs to enhance operations cluster teams and maintenance capabilities.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Drive Factory of the Future (digitalization) initiatives within Core Operations to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs and increase productivity while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
  • System Integration: Work closely with Manufacturing IT and Engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of digital solutions across Core Operations.
  • Digital Learning Platform: Collaborate on developing a digital learning platform to drive capability building and upskilling of Core Operations employees’ digital acumen.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Drive real‑time, data‑based decisions in day‑to‑day operations using data analytics and artificial intelligence.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Partner with supply chain, engineering, core operations, operational excellence, quality, and other departments to ensure seamless collaboration across all functions.
  • Project Execution Lead: Represent production requirements and needs for all Factory of the Future related projects, including MES, Automation, Robotics, equipment upgrades, process changes, and new technologies.
  • Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, GMP standards, and industry best practices across special projects in Nutritionals, OTC, and Warehouse manufacturing processes.
  • Electronic Batch Records: Oversee implementation and management of electronic batch record systems in Core Operations, optimizing processes and ensuring integrity, accuracy, and security.
  • Continuous Improvement & CAPA: Drive root‑cause investigations for process and equipment deviations, targeting robust corrective actions and preventive actions, and reducing write‑offs.
  • Audit Participation: Participate in regular internal and external audits to maintain compliance and address any discrepancies.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree with multi‑functional experience in Manufacturing, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operation Excellence.
  • Deep experience in complex manufacturing, packaging, or supply chain management in the consumer and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of solid dosage and liquid manufacturing and packaging operations.
  • Experience with successful organizational transformation and change management initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven approach to decision‑making.
  • Exceptional leadership and team‑building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of the organization and external partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations E2E innovation solutions leveraging analytics and digitization with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • High level of urgency and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts positively and provide constructive feedback to direct reports and peer groups.
  • Application of VACC leadership behaviors.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, OSHA, EPA, and Bayer standards.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 8+ years of leadership/production/supervisory experience in FDA‑regulated pharmaceutical industry.
Compensation

Employees can expect to be paid a salary between $84,880.00 – $127,320.00. Additional compensation may include a bonus or incentive compensation (if relevant). Additional benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, and other standard benefits.
