KaMin is seeking a field and lab technician with a degree in geosciences to support core logging, geologic interpretation, and lab testing of drill cores. You will help identify materials, grade clay qualities, and ensure data quality while following safety and procedure standards.

In this role you’ll work with geologists and mine supervisors in a hands-on environment, both in the field and in climate-controlled labs, handling equipment and potentially lifting up to 60 pounds.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Earth Sciences.

Responsabilidades

Descripción del empleo

• Safety: Lead by example in following safe work practices. Safety is the #1 priority in conducting work in the field and in the lab.
• Logging Core: Identify and characterize different geologic materials as encountered, with the primary focus being the recovery and characterization of the cored kaolin clays.
• Lab testing: Learn and implement all Reserves Analysis Lab policies and testing procedures associated with incoming drill core samples.
• Geologic interpretation: Assist geologists and mine supervisors in making geologic interpretations based on stratigraphy and sedimentology of current or future mine areas. Assist in grading clay qualities based on drill logs and test results to aid mill supervisors.
• Quality Adherence: Follow all established procedures in logging core and lab testing. Producing quality and reliable data is of great importance.

Working Conditions: Varying climate conditions to be expected while logging core in the field. Most duties in the laboratory will be in a climate-controlled environment. Job may involve the handling of hazardous chemicals and gases, as well as possible exposure to noise and dust. May be required to lift up to 60 pounds on occasions. Must be able to stand for majority of workday, walk long distance, climb stairs and ladders.

Specialized or Technical Knowledge/Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Sciences, Biology, or other Earth Sciences.
• Ability to work safely with a team to achieve common objectives.
• Cleanliness and organization are required to ensure sample integrity from the drill rigs to the lab.
• Computer proficiency of Microsoft suite, basic web navigation, data entry, AutoCAD/GIS.
• Ability to operate the equipment and instruments needed for the testing of clay samples in a safe and effective
