DMC University Laboratories, Inc. is seeking a Lab Assistant for the Core Lab to perform pre-analytical and post-analytical tasks under supervision. You will handle specimens, process data, and interact with patients and healthcare professionals while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The role emphasizes attention to detail, adherence to OSHA guidelines, and teamwork to support high reliability and exceptional patient care across the lab operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Six months medical training or related health care experience required.
• Basic studies in medical terminology preferred.
• Customer service experience in a service environment preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred for phlebotomists.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize incoming specimens and process them per safety guidelines.
• May draw blood and collect insurance information as needed.
• Label, process, and aliquot specimens per test requirements.
• Ensure specimen integrity and proper submission for testing.
• Enter and verify laboratory test data in the system, following quality standards.
• Explain procedures to patients and respond to routine questions from health professionals.
• Maintain a clean work area and stock supplies.
• Transport specimens and manage routine clerical duties as needed.
• Perform equipment checks and report anomalies.
• Prepare patients for tests and assist with special procedures.
• Communicate training needs to management and adhere to safety policies.
