The School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training at Pacific University Oregon invites applications for a 9-month, full-time faculty position in our entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program. The academic rank of assistant or associate professor and tenure-track options will depend on qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The position is available beginning in the spring semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach in one or more content areas including: neurology, bioethics, and business management. The primary program need is neurology, which includes the following content areas: neuroanatomy, neuroscience, and neuromuscular rehabilitation. Specific assignments are dependent upon program needs. Candidates must be committed to student-centered education as well as working cooperatively with faculty and staff in the School, College, and University.
Performs duties independently with minimal supervision, operating from specific and definite directions and instructions. Decisions are of a routine nature made within prescribed operating guidelines, policies and procedures. Mistakes/errors may result in work stoppage, loss of business, poor customer relations and/or damage to product, all of which can have negative financial implications for the university.
The ideal candidates will have a terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc) in physical therapy or in a related field. Candidates with a DPT degree and ABPTS board certification or equivalent will also be considered. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of clinical/professional experience and physical therapists must possess an Oregon Physical Therapist License or be eligible for licensure in Oregon. Prior teaching, research, and service experience is preferred.
Skills and abilities include strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of students and the program, and the ability to travel to various locations for site visits.
Full-time, in person, on-site position on the Hillsboro Campus.
Standard weekday hours 8am-5pm with some flexibility. There may be occasional early evening or weekend events (Commencement). Occasional travel to conferences may be necessary.
