Job summary

L J HUGHES & SONS, Inc. seeks Core Drillers to join their Summersville, West Virginia team. The role involves operating truck-mounted rotary drilling rigs to obtain core samples for mining exploration, with emphasis on coal seams.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and capable of supervising helpers in the field. Responsibilities include field drilling operations management, equipment maintenance, and ensuring accurate record keeping.

Qualifications

• Must have valid driver's license to apply.
• Willingness to obtain CDL within six months.
• Ability to drive standard transmissions.
• Willingness to travel away from home for at least a week.
• Physical ability to lift, pull, push, and carry materials.
• Ability to operate and maintain truck-mounted drilling rigs.
• Record keeping skills for drilling operations.
• Ability to pass DOT physical and drug test.
• Proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Operate truck-mounted rotary drilling rigs to obtain core samples for mining exploration, particularly coal seams.
• Supervise helpers while managing drilling operations in the field.
