Job summary

Talon Nickel (USA) LLC is seeking a dependable Core Cutter to support the exploration drill program in Tamarack, Minnesota. This entry-level, hands-on role focuses on core cutting, handling, and storage alongside geologists.

You will prepare drill core for sampling, label and organize boxes, and help maintain a clean, safe core shed and equipment area. Training provided; physical labor required indoors/outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Willingness to perform physical labor indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to repeatedly lift core boxes weighing up to 50 lb.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Core Shed Support: cut drill core with a core saw, follow cut lines and sample intervals, label and stack core boxes, record storage locations, keep the core facility organized.
• Equipment Operation: operate forklifts, scissor lifts, electric stackers, and pickup trucks as trained; perform basic core saw maintenance.
• Health, Safety & Work Practices: follow safety policies, wear PPE, use safe lifting practices.

Job description

Talon Nickel (USA) LLC is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Core Cutter, to support the exploration drill program in Tamarack, Minnesota. This is an entry-level, hands-on role focused on core cutting, core handling, and core storage.

The Core Cutter will work alongside geologists in the core shed and core storage buildings, preparing drill core for sampling and keeping it organized for future use. This role involves a variety of physical tasks and is well suited for individuals looking to gain experience in the mineral exploration industry.

Key Responsibilities

Core Shed Support

• Primary focus is cutting drill core with a core saw, following the cut lines and sample intervals marked by geologists.
• Keep the core saw and saw room clean.
• Handle, move, label, and stack core boxes by hole and depth in an orderly and efficient manner.
• Record core box storage locations so core can be quickly retrieved for relogging or resampling.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the core facility.

Equipment Operation

• Operate equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, electric power stackers, and pickup trucks (as trained and qualified).
• Perform basic core saw maintenance, including blade changes, and care for other tools and equipment.

Health, Safety & Work Practices

• Follow all Company safety policies and procedures.
• Wear required PPE, including eye, hearing, and respiratory protection when cutting core.
• Use safe lifting practices when handling core boxes.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to perform physical labor indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to repeatedly lift core boxes weighing up to 50 lb.
• Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Interest in mining, geology, or mineral exploration.
• Experience operating forklifts or similar equipment, or willingness to learn.
• Prior experience in labor, construction, or industrial work.
