Job summary

AOE International is seeking an experienced instructor to teach the CEJA Core Competencies to new cohorts monthly, covering 100 hours of employability and industry-specific skills, plus 10 hours of career exploration with employers.

The role includes delivering OSHA 10-Hour Construction, First Aid/CPR/AED, digital skills, and basic electrical training while assessing progress and coordinating with case managers for progression to pathway instructors.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience teaching or training adults in workforce readiness.
• Experience with construction or clean energy workplaces and safety practices.
• Strong facilitation skills and experience with learners who face barriers to employment.
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, presentations and digital collaboration tools.
• Bachelor's degree in education, workforce development or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Core Competencies modules through hands-on, scenario-based activities set in clean energy workplaces.
• Teach the OSHA 10-Hour Construction course and First Aid/CPR/AED, and complete the records each credential requires.
• Teach digital skills in the computer lab, and basic tool use and foundational electricity in the training lab.
• Assess each participant during and at the end of training, using varied methods, and record attendance and results.
• Identify participants who are struggling, re-teach and re-assess the specific component, and notify the case manager.
• Host employer panels, job site visits and mock interviews with business engagement staff.
• Create a welcoming, inclusive classroom that builds on participants' existing knowledge and strengths.
• Help each participant confirm a Career Pathway choice and pass the plan to the case manager and pathway instructors.

Position summary

Teach the CEJA Core Competencies to a new cohort every month: 100 hours of essential employability skills, essential workplace skills and clean energy basics, including OSHA 10 and First Aid/CPR/AED, plus 10 hours of career exploration with employers. The instructor sets the tone for the whole program and prepares participants to succeed in pathway training.

Training and authorization required

• OSHA-authorized Construction outreach trainer (or completion of the trainer course within three months of hire) and First Aid/CPR/AED instructor certification.
• Department authorization and equity, diversity, inclusion and accessibility training before working with participants.
