Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) serves as the campus community mental health center for students. Its mission is to support student development, empowerment, and success through culturally affirming mental health services provided by a dedicated staff. CAPS offers assessments, consultations, case management, group and individual therapy, and psychiatry services. It also provides mental health training and wellness education in collaboration with the RISE Center. Clinical services are confidential and available to enrolled students.
The Core Clinician is a vital member of the Bruin Mobile Compassionate Response (CORE) Team, delivering mobile mental health crisis intervention on campus. The role demands advanced counseling expertise to conduct onsite consultations, risk assessments, and crisis interventions, including de-escalation and safety planning. Clinicians work independently in the field, coordinating with campus partners like UCPD to manage crises and facilitate hospitalization when necessary. Responsibilities include clinical case management, ensuring continuity of care, and collaborating with students to minimize crises and law enforcement involvement. The role involves developing and providing mental health and crisis management training to campus community members and participating in campus-wide crisis responses. The position is full-time, working 40 hours between 10 AM and 10 PM, with occasional weekend work. It is an in-person role with no remote work option. A potential one-year housing benefit may be included.
