Job description

Saylor is a social-led, entertainment-first creative agency based in Los Angeles. Founded by former entertainment executives, we set sail in 2021 to build an independent agency that rethinks how brands communicate with today’s audiences.

We believe every brand is an entertainment brand. That is why we craft ideas that move with culture, creating work that earns attention, sparks connection, and builds fandoms that last. Our clients include Netflix, Disney, Amazon, Hilton, Anthropologie, and more.

We’re a tight‑knit crew of creatives, strategists, and makers who collaborate without ego, stay curious, and always show up for one another. We foster a supportive space where diverse perspectives are celebrated, hierarchy never blocks great ideas, and everyone is empowered to jump in, solve problems, and push creative boundaries together.

Position Overview

Saylor seeks an innovative, sharp Copywriter with experience in social media copywriting, content strategy, and creative development to join the Creative direction team. The ideal candidate will be exceedingly creative, collaborative, strategic, and obsessed with social media and marketing trends. This role will support the Associate Creative Director and Creative team in shaping the creative efforts on pitches, accounts, and brand and marketing campaigns. This person will be responsible for leading group brainstorms, ideating independently, developing concepts, crafting voice and tone, and writing scripts and copy.

The Copywriter will take the lead on certain initiatives, with some collaboration and oversight from the Associate Creative Director (ACD) to maintain alignment and consistency throughout the process. Externally, you'll be client facing and will help ensure their vision is executed. Internally, you'll collaborate across all teams at Saylor — partnering with Strategy and Production, inspiring Accounts, and working closely with Design and Editorial to elevate individual assets and entire campaigns. Throughout, you'll ensure all creative aligns with strategy and brand voice through copy, design, and execution.

Location and Salary

This is a full-time, exempt role with a salary range of $75,000-$105,000. This person must be LA-based and available to come into the Saylor office in Echo Park on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Responsibilities
  • Heavy ideation for everything from lo-fi reactive content to high lift social stunts.
  • Taking creative guidelines from ACD, CD, or ECD and ensuring all creative is executed accordingly.
  • Attend client meetings and present creative ideas, frequently serving as a creative liaison between Saylor and our clients.
  • Social media copywriting, deck copywriting, and other writing tasks as they arise.
  • Crafting of tone and voice that will inform high visibility campaigns and pitches.
  • Partner with Production, Strategy, Creative, and Editorial teams on bringing high-quality creative to life through scripting and production kick off meetings as needed.
  • Provide strategic insight on content executions and relevant internet language to ensure the project is backed up by sound creative tactics.
  • When needed, support and develop pitch decks in collaboration with the Associate Creative Director, Creative Director, and/or Executive Creative Director, as well as the lead Strategist.
  • Pitch creative concepts to clients.
  • Work with Saylor’s Production and Strategy teams to help maintain and execute the visual language for brands/campaigns.
  • Clearly delegate scripting and other creative tasks to coordinators as needed.
  • Review all creative assets before they are sent to clients or released, providing last‑minute adjustments and quality control as needed.
Execution:
  • Work closely with the Associate Creative Director, Creative Director, and/or Executive Creative Director to understand campaign goals and support the creative team to execute against these strategies.
  • Facilitate the Creative team and Producer in the creation of mood boards, storyboards, scripts, and creative mockups that will serve as the foundation for visual and design direction across campaigns.
  • Foster strong communication with the Creative teams, offering steers, references, and one‑on‑one guidance to ensure that assets are being developed on schedule and within the project’s constraints.
  • Help refine copy and design elements when necessary to ensure all creative aspects are cohesive and aligned with the brand’s messaging and aesthetic.
  • Relay copy options to client and address feedback in a timely manner via Slack, Asana, and other channels as needed, keeping client priorities in mind.
  • Collaborate with the Strategy team to ensure that content is optimized for various platforms and engages the target audience effectively.
  • Continuously gather and curate references and research from various sources, using them to inspire creative solutions and innovative campaign ideas.
Qualifications
  • 3-5+ years of experience in an agency setting or in‑house at a studio, with experience creating and leading marketing/branded content.
  • High‑level understanding of 360 campaign creative within entertainment marketing; social‑forward aesthetic and storytelling thinking is a must.
  • Incredible storytelling skills, with the ability to assist on pitches and sell the creative in the room to our clients.
  • A knack for juggling multiple brand voices and crafting copy for social posts, pitch decks, and voice intensive projects.
  • An eye for strong ideas and executions with the ability to communicate its effectiveness.
  • Finger on the pulse of creative culture across platforms. Able to pull references from all different sources that could help inspire creative avenues.
  • Ability to seamlessly bounce between projects of varying complexity.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight, high‑volume deadlines.
  • Honed ability to give and receive constructive criticism.
  • Must embody Saylor’s core values of Curiosity, Impact, Trust, Respect, and Inclusivity.

We offer a competitive salary, health insurance, 401k, generous vacation, and great opportunities for growth within the company.
