About the role
Relieves the duties or assists in the roles of Coating Line Operator, Coating Line Inspector, Coating Head Operator, Material Handler, and Mixing Room Operator as required by performing the following duties.
What you'll do
· Activates controls to startup and shutdown coating line.
· Reads Job Sheet/Standard Manufacturing Procedure (SMP) to obtain setup instructions.
· Sets wet film thickness in accordance with Job Sheet/SMP.
· Performs removal of finished master coil and startup of new master coils.
· Adds various chemical solutions to storage tanks.
· Maintains appropriate levels of chemical solutions in storage tanks.
· Monitors coating processes for adherence to quality standards including temperature charts, dimensional specifications, and cosmetic flaws.
· Installs coatings in accordance with Job Sheet/SMP at coating station.
· Visually examines and feels surface of rubber coated or adhesive material to detect defects such as bond failure, scratches, bubbles, and other blemishes.
· Records all defects on defect log.
· Completes Nonconforming Condition Report (NCR) in the event of excessive defects.
· Uses micrometer to measure material and glue thickness of in-process and sample materials
· Maintains coating records by documenting line speed, thickness, chemical mixtures, bond results etc. in Plexus.
· Assists in line setup to include back flush material changeover, filter bag change, and assurance to Job Sheet/SMP.
· Monitors coating process for controlled application.
· Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, uncoilers, racks, and shelves by hand or using forklift.
· Ties, bands, or otherwise fastens finished master coils from coating line.
· Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
· Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist.
· Operates auxiliary equipment to break up, grind, dry mix, or otherwise prepare mixture for final processing.
· Notifies supervisor of safety or quality concerns.
· Performs routine/general maintenance repair on equipment.
· Cleans tools, equipment, machines, and work area.
· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications
· High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Knowledge of basic computer and keyboard use.
· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
· Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
· Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
· Ability to use measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers. Forklift license required.
· Ability to work any continuous or fixed shift schedule including any day of the calendar week as required for operation of the position and mandatory overtime as implemented by management.
· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
