Attorneys in Smith Anderson's Health Care and Regulatory Practice advise a diverse range of health care providers, health systems, physician groups, long-term care facilities, and other industry stakeholders on the complex legal, regulatory, and operational issues shaping today's health care environment. The practice combines deep industry knowledge with practical business judgment to help clients navigate regulatory compliance, transactional matters, reimbursement issues, operational challenges, and strategic growth initiatives. Working collaboratively across disciplines, the team delivers comprehensive counsel that enables clients to manage risk, achieve their business objectives, and adapt to an evolving regulatory landscape.

This is an opportunity to join one of North Carolina's leading health care practices and play a meaningful role in advising clients on sophisticated regulatory and transactional matters. Attorneys on the team work closely with clients on issues involving federal and state health care regulations, licensure and certification requirements, fraud and abuse laws, privacy and security obligations, reimbursement matters, and health care transactions. Associates benefit from significant responsibility, direct client contact, and early involvement in complex matters, all within a collaborative environment that emphasizes mentorship, professional development, and long-term career growth.

The attorney in this role will work closely with partners and clients to provide practical, business-focused guidance on a broad range of health care regulatory and compliance matters. Responsibilities include advising clients on compliance with federal and state health care laws and regulations, assisting with health care transactions and due diligence, supporting licensure and enrollment matters, preparing and negotiating contractual arrangements, and analyzing regulatory developments affecting health care organizations. The attorney will also assist clients in responding to government inquiries, audits, and investigations, while helping them develop proactive compliance strategies that support operational success and reduce regulatory risk.

The ideal candidate has between three to seven years' health care experience at a large or mid-size law firm. Additionally, the candidate should exhibit the following skills and characteristics:
