Job summary

Orion Steel Group is seeking a hands-on team member for general scrap operations. You will pick copper, clean around the mill, and assist shredder mechanics with conveyors and bearing shafts. You will help keep the area safe and meet production targets.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, physical capability to lift up to 40 lbs, and a strong work ethic. Weekend hours may be required to fit operational needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks.
• Mechanically inclined and safety conscious.
• Self-motivated with proactive mindset.
• Strong written and spoken English.
• Experience in recycling or mining is a plus.
• willingness to work occasional weekends if needed.

Responsibilities

• Keep work area clean and ready for daily operations.
• Ensure conveyor bearings are clean and properly greased.
• Sort copper to ensure quality material is shipped to customers.
• Report issues immediately.
• Assist shredder mechanics during projects.
• Assist in meeting monthly production goals.
• Perform lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures before work on equipment.
• Cross-train in other departments for coverage during short staffing or call-ins.
