Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Sample Processing Specialist to log shipments, receive and manage samples for clinical and toxicology trials within a GLP-regulated environment.

You will ensure temperature alarms are addressed, coordinate with vendors and sites, train new technicians, and support the sample lifecycle from receipt to disposal, in a cross-functional team including IT, Bioanalysis, and Clinical Systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience in life sciences.
• 1–3 years of sample processing experience in a GLP-regulated environment.
• Expert in end-to-end sample lifecycle.
• Proficient with applicable LIMS software.
• Ability to work autonomously and develop process improvements.
• Experience in cross-functional teams (IT, Bioanalysis, Clinical Systems).

Responsibilities

• Log shipments and receive samples for clinical/toxicology trials per Bioanalysis requirements.
• Notify manager and sample owner of abnormal receipt conditions for follow-up.
• Resolve sample discrepancies with vendors/sites/clinical teams.
• Ensure alarms from temperature monitoring systems are addressed promptly.
• Manage sample storage volumes and lifecycle for transfer/disposal.
• Assist with development of trial-specific CLW as needed.
• Administer the temperature monitoring system and calibrate cooling devices.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings on Sample Processing tasks.
• Train and onboard new technicians; serve as primary contact between receiving team and Sr. Manager of LSO.
• Coordinate activities of the sample receipt team to meet timelines.

Job Description

• Log shipments and receive samples for clinical and/or toxicology trials, in accordance with priority set by Bioanalysis team
• Notify manager and sample owner of any abnormal receipt conditions for follow up with site/vendor that incorrectly shipped samples
• Work with vendor/site/clinical to resolve any sample discrepancies as necessary
• Ensure that alarms from the temperature monitoring system are addressed within expected timeframes
• Manage sample storage volumes and the sample lifecycle management process to ensure the timely transfer and/or disposal of eligible samples
• Assist with the development of trial-specific CLW as needed
• Act as administrator to the temperature monitoring system and manage the maintenance/calibration of cooling devices to ensure all samples are appropriately stored by R43F.
• Participate in cross-functional meetings where Sample Processing tasks are discussed.
• Training and on-boarding of new technicians. Act as the primary contact point between the receiving team and the Sr. Manager of LSO as well as other functional areas.
• Coordinate the activities of the sample receipt team to ensure that the technicians are able to receive samples within the targeted timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree (preferably life sciences related) or equivalent years of experience required
• Must have 1-3 years of sample processing experience in a GLP regulated environment.
• An expert in the end-to-end sample lifecycle.
• Proficient with applicable LIMS software.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and develop ideas/solutions to improve operations
• Must have demonstrated experience in cross-functional team environment (specifically IT, Bioanalysis, Clinical Systems).

This range may bemodifiedin thefuture.
