Job Overview:
As a member of the cystic fibrosis health care team, this role will have two responsibilities.
Primarily, the Registered dietician is responsible for the development of individual nutritional care of assigned adult and pediatric cystic fibrosis patient populations within the RWJBH Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Clinics. Secondarily as Assistant Program Coordinator will help with coordination of the Adult and Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Programs and help with metrics and institution of quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Required:
- AHA, BLS Provider Certification required.
- Registered dietitian (RD) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
- Registry Eligible will be considered for inpatient rehabilitation sites
- Bachelor s in nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited college or university. Master s degree preferred
- At least 5 years experience in the field of clinical nutrition
- Clinical experience with cystic fibrosis patients is required.
- At least three years experience in program coordination, development, planning and/or quality improvement

Essential Functions:
- Utilizes basic understanding of cystic fibrosis and associated diagnoses; pertinent medical history; rationale and goal of treatment to provide nutritional care for assigned patients. Nutritional care includes evaluation of nutritional status, creation, implementation, monitoring and revision of nutritional care plans and provision of nutrition education.
- Completes nutritional assessments in a thorough and timely manner as per policy and procedure.
- Communicates effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary staff in oral and written formats in both formal and informal situations
- Participates in nutritional in-services and community education programs.
- Evaluates and creates educational materials for nutrition education and professional resources.
- Provides care to patient s hospital based and non-hospital-based patients both through outpatient care and telehealth services.
- Participates in development, revision evaluation and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
- Participate in routine duties necessary for department functioning. Participate in focus audits, performance improvement activities, policy and procedure review and assigned projects which enhance department performance and support the hospital mission.
- May guide Dietetic Technician.
- Meets minimum annual expected volumes
- Required intermittent travel to system Cystic Fibrosis Clinic sites.
Job Duties Program Coordinator:
- Provide lead in quality improvement efforts for the center. This would include working collaboratively with the team to develop QI and QA projects and be primary coordinator for those projects
- Manage the Cystic Fibrosis data registry. This includes supervision of data collection, data entry and annual reviews. Utilize data toward quality improvement initiatives.
- Assist in development and coordination of research activities in the center, this may include participation as an investigator and/or promoting research activities with patients in this and other centers.
- Participation in biweekly Therapeutics Development Network meetings.
- Participate in grant renewal reports and grant application as needed.
- Liaison with CF Foundation at local and national level.
- Attend North American Cystic Fibrosis Conference annually
- Work with center to plan family education events, town hall and other family centered activities
