Children’s Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Surgical services include general, thoracic, reconstructive and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed specifically for children provides advanced diagnostic services including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Children’s Hospital of Michigan Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Children’s Hospital of Michigan - Troy and six ambulatory sites.

Job Description

Under general direction, coordinates the overall delivery of pharmacy services which may include: I.V. admixture, unit dose drug distribution, and outpatient pharmacy services in a remote pharmacy location. Works closely with other members of the Pharmacy Department in recommending operational changes to enhance the efficiency of all functions performed.

  • Plans, schedules, delegates and monitors the work activities of subordinate personnel.
  • Develops, secures approval of and implements policies and procedures for assigned area(s). Reviews the effectiveness of services performed and recommends improvements as necessary.
  • Acts as liaison between pharmacy and medical and patient care staffs; maintains cooperative working relations while presenting problems and recommendations for resolution.
  • Assures sufficient inventory levels of medications and supplies for assigned areas.
  • Performs duties and responsibilities as defined in the staff pharmacist's job description such as providing drug information as requested to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care professionals and assisting in clarifying medication orders.
  • Oversees the collection and reporting of workload measurements for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Adheres to system, hospital, and departmental policies, procedures, and objectives; maintains a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy. Advanced degree preferred. Completion of an accredited residency in hospital pharmacy highly desirable.
  • Two to three years of progressively more responsible experience as a pharmacist in an institutional environment.
  • Registered Pharmacist and Controlled Substance licensures in the State of Michigan obtained within 3 months of entry into job.

NOTE: "Institutional Pharmacies include hospitals, long-term care facilities, and nursing homes. This setting will require you to interact with doctors and nurses."
