Coordinator of the Morris Cultural Arts Center, Audio Visual Technician

Position Summary

The Coordinator of the Morris Cultural Arts Center/Audio Visual Technician will assist in delivery and production of special events and University activities. Primary area of responsibility will be in the Morris Cultural Arts Center, but additionally, in other venues as needed to best support the University’s vision and mission. This position will play an integral role in the day-to-day facility operations, sound production, and initiatives engaged with University scheduling, and assist with overseeing all internal and external events. Additionally, the candidate must be able to serve as an effective spokesperson for the Christian identity and mission of the University.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Provide a full range of AV technical duties, including but not limited to, setup and operation of sound equipment, theatrical equipment, lighting, taping, LCD projection systems, equipment maintenance, as well as assisting in stage and campus setups, minor AV installations, repair work, maintenance tasks, and set up AV equipment for daily and special events.
  • Provide general site services including the housekeeping of work areas.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly MCAC facility and risk management walks to ensure the facility is staying in pristine condition, safe, and secure at all times. Submission of work orders and following up on facility work orders, making sure work is being completed.
  • Ensure efficient and effective building operations, cleaning expectations, and maintenance schedules to provide the highest level of cleanliness and comfort to all guests.
  • Carry out other AV related duties when required.
  • Ensure a safe & healthy working environment, and compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Ad Astra scheduling operations, and planning pod event planning systems.
  • Present a professional image to visitors, and ensure excellence in customer service.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to train and coordinate student workers in operation of the previously listed systems.
  • Identify, assess, and improve on internal processes.
  • Operate computer with Microsoft suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Attend regularly scheduled Events Office meetings.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve on campus committees as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an approved staffing plan for the event staffing levels, and special Events staff. Recruit, select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff in accordance with Department, Divisional and University guidelines.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Theater or Mass Communications, Journalism or related field.
  • Experience in any of the above listed fields is beneficial but not required.
  • Experience in managing facilities, and staff supervision.
  • Working knowledge of all Theater, Audio/Visual hardware (Yamaha audio consoles, ETC lighting consoles) and terminology necessary to effectively perform duties as described.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends in addition to a standard work week.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to walk about campus.
  • Lift equipment and materials up to 50 pounds.
