Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seeks a part-time Coordinator of Religious Education to lead catechesis for children, youth and adults in alignment with Archdiocese of Miami policies. Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Parish, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is hiring for a part-time Coordinator of Religious Education (CRE) . The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Archdiocese of Miami.

Schedule: 15 hours a week.

Responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement a plan for comprehensive and systematic catechesis for children, youth and adults based on the plan for comprehensive and systematic catechesis of the Archdiocese of Miami.
• Develop Sacramental Preparation.
• Implement the catechetical policies and curriculum of the Archdiocese of Miami.
• Direct the parish catechetical programs from adults to children.
• Maintain accurate records on student enrollment, attendance and sacramental preparation and submit requested data to the Office of Catechesis.
• Ensure a pastoral approach for all in setting program structures, e.g. calendar dates, scheduling use of facilities, procedures for registration and fee collection.
• Set the environment for procedures for management of sessions and discipline.
• Assure adequate supervision of minors during the entire time they are on the parish premises for catechetical activities.
• Recruit and screen candidates for the role of catechist.
• Develop role descriptions for catechetical personnel and support staff.
• Provide regular evaluation for catechists at all levels.
• Participate in the on-going formation opportunities provided by the Office of Catechesis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Practicing Catholic who fully adheres to and models the Church’s teachings in faith and morals, with active participation in parish life.
• Approval by the Office of Catechesis as per Archdiocesan policy.
• Bachelor’s degree in Catholic Religious Education, Theology or a related field from a Catholic University, or equivalent.
• Completion of Core Theological Competencies, Ministerial Courses and archdiocesan safety policies (Background Check, Virtus, etc.).
• Good time management skills, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
• Appropriate mental and physical health to accomplish the tasks.
• Good computer literacy, with proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to operate audio-visual equipment as needed for presentations.
• Excellent oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
• Good Spanish-language spoken communication skills desirable; required in parishes of predominantly Spanish-speaking students/parents.
