Job summary

St. Timothy Parish in Mesa, AZ seeks a dynamic youth ministry coordinator to develop and deliver a discipleship-based semester curriculum for Edge.

You will lead weekly Edge Nights, plan retreats, organize service and social events, and work with teens and adults in a collaborative team. The role requires evangelization, catechesis experience, strong communication, and the ability to recruit and form a core team.

Responsibilities

• Develop a discipleship-based semester curriculum for Edge (12–14 weeks) including weekly Edge Nights
• Host and teach Edge Nights with 100+ youth
• Communicate weekly with parents via parish channels
• Recruit, form and support a core Edge team (≈24 people)
• Collaborate with staff/volunteers to bridge programs
• Support Diocesan & Life Teen youth ministry programs
• Provide timely information for worship aids, emails, social pages
• Attend staff meetings and collaborate with parish staff
• Implement Safe Environment training and adhere to parish policies
• Work 8 hours in office during typical hours (Mon-Thu, 9-5)
• Perform tasks as directed by Pastor/Delegate
• Maintain relationships with St. Timothy Parish & School staff

Description

• Develop, coordinate and foster a comprehensive discipleship-based semester curriculum for Edge that includes weekly Edge Nights (12-14 per semester), retreats (including Edge Camp), service, and social events.
• Effectively host & teach at Edge Nights with 100+ youth.
• Communicate weekly with parents regarding ministry, parish life, expectations, at home formation opportunities, etc.
• Create and promote ministry in a way that continually invites new youth, in all stages of discipleship, to participate in Edge.
• Coordinate, recruit, form, support and evaluate a core team for Edge that incorporates H.S. teens & adults. (estimated at 24+ people)
• Work collaboratively with appropriate staff and volunteers to bridge programs (CGS to EDGE, EDGE to Life Teen).
• Participate in and support Diocesan & Life Teen Youth Ministry Programs and Training Opportunities.
• Provide timely, relevant information for weekly worship aid, parish Flocknote Friday email, Edge Instagram, and maintain the Edge page on parish website to help Edge be connected to the larger parish and all parishioners have access to knowledge of the ministry.
• Attend staff meetings as required.
• Work cooperatively with St. Timothy Parish and School Staff
• Implement, promote and enforce mandatory Diocesan Safe Environment requirement(s) for volunteers and youth.
• Complete Diocesan Safe Environment Training annually & maintain all appropriate boundaries consistently.
• Adhere to personnel practices of the Diocese of Phoenix and applicable parish policies and procedures.
• Work a minimum of 8 hours in office during typical office hours (M-Th, 9-5)
• Perform any task deemed necessary by the Pastor or his delegate

Requirements

• Understand the dynamics of evangelization, conversion, and discipleship
• Enthusiastically evangelize youth and form others to do so
• Practicing Catholic in good standing; faith-filled, Holy Spirit driven, self-motivated, imaginative, energetic and reliable
• Some formal training in theology or systematic catechesis?
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in related position
• Ability to develop a program that will equip teens to become disciples of Christ
• Knowledge of general technology (Canva, Flocknote, AV, etc.)
• Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, including public speaking
• Ability to work well with middle school and high school youth, parents and volunteers
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to multitask
• Must have initiative, creativity, sensitivity to the needs of people; sound judgment regarding individual and program needs
• Must maintain confidentiality of sensitive/personal information
• Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision and frequent interruptions
• Must be available to work nights and weekends, as required (1-2 nights/week + 1 weekend/quarter on average)
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Must have reliable personal transportation
