Position Overview

The Readiness Early Childhood Coordinator serves as the lead instructional, program and professional development specialist for the Plainfield Public Schools’ early childhood education program. This position is responsible for driving the implementation of high-quality, inclusive, play-based instruction aligned with state standards and the vision of the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood. The coach will lead capacity-building efforts through targeted professional development, instructional modeling, coaching, and data-informed decision-making to improve student outcomes and strengthen early childhood practices district-wide.

Supports educators in Readiness, PreK, FRC

  • Valid Connecticut Teaching Certification
  • Dual certification in General Education and Special Education highly preferred
  • Proven experience in instructional coaching, professional development facilitation, and mentoring educators
  • Deep knowledge of NAEYC standards, CT Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS), and CT Documentation and Observation for Teaching System (CT DOTS)
  • Demonstrated leadership in technology integration for data collection, student assessment, and instructional improvement (e.g., CT eObserve)
  • Expertise in inclusive early learning practices that support a wide range of developmental needs
  • Familiarity with CT Special Education Data System (SEDS) and ability to support staff in high-quality IEP development
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills; able to lead, support, and inspire both new and experienced staff
  • Commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and the academic and social-emotional growth of all students

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership & Coaching

  • Serve as the primary instructional leader in preschool curriculum and pedagogy aligned to state and national standards
  • Provide direct, job-embedded coaching to educators, modeling effective instructional strategies and supporting the development of inclusive classroom environments
  • Facilitate the use of CT ELDS and CT DOTS data to inform planning, instruction, and student support
  • Lead the implementation of evidence-based, play-centered instructional practices that meet the needs of all learners
  • Support classroom teams in maintaining compliance with NAEYC standards, including adult-to-student ratios and high-quality learning environments
    • Lead in the application, renewal and maintaining NAEYC accreditation standards and leads in the NAEYC accreditation application process
Program Development & Coordination

  • Collect, analyze, and report Early Childhood Outcome data, developmental screenings, and evaluations to enhance program effectiveness
  • Support alignment of practices with School Readiness Grant requirements and oversee the implementation of high-quality program components
    • Co-Facilitator of Readiness and Early Start Grants in partnership with Assistant Superintendent and Business Manager
  • Coordinate with the SHE Principal and Assistant Superintendent on service delivery, case management, and transitions for Birth to Three students
  • Collaborate with the Family Resource Center and other school-based programs to strengthen family engagement and wraparound supports
Professional Development

  • Design and deliver ongoing, research-based professional development and training aligned to district priorities and state initiatives
  • Guide staff in using CT SEDS for high-quality IEP development and compliance
  • Lead efforts in integrating technology into instruction and assessment practices

Collaboration & Community Engagement

  • Foster strong collaborative partnerships with Central Office leadership, school administrators, community agencies, and the Office of Early Childhood
  • Act as a liaison between the district and external early childhood partners, including the School Readiness Liaison
  • Promote a culture of trust, growth, and continuous learning within the early childhood education team
  • District lead contact for NECC (Northeast Childhood Council) collaboration and serves as co-district member on leadership

Terms Of Employment

Salary and benefits in accordance with the Plainfield Board of Education certified personnel contract additional stipend allocation determined by Superintendent

Evaluation

Performance will be evaluated by the SHE Principal based on achievement of established goals and alignment with Board policy
